What Time Is The Grand National At Aintree This Saturday?

The biggest race of the year is finally here, but when does it start? See all you need to know about the 2026 Grand National time here. 

However, there will be no repeat of last year’s result after 2025 winner Nick Rockett was ruled out of the race.

Despite a blow to connections, the Willie Mullins runners for the race still stand at eight-strong.

2026 Grand National Time & How To Watch

The 2026 Grand National will start at 4pm on Saturday April 11th and it will be the fifth race on the ITV Racing schedule.

ITV’s coverage starts at 12:45pm on Saturday and they will show FIVE live races, ending with the 2026 Grand National.

  • 1:20 Aintree – William Hill Handicap Hurdle (Class 1, 3m 1/2f)
  • 1:55 Aintree – Turners Mersey Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1, 2m4f)
  • 2:30 Aintree – William Hill Handicap Chase (Class 1, 3m1f)
  • 3:05 Aintree – Jet2 Liverpool Hurdle (Grade 1, 3m 1/2f)
  • 4:00 Aintree – Randox Grand National (Class 1, 4m 2 1/2f)

With horses navigating 30 fences over a distance of four miles and two-and-a-half furlongs, the time it usually takes for the Grand National to conclude is between nine and 10 minutes.

Infact, the average Grand National winning time is nine minutes and 10 seconds.

Grand National Favourite And Odds

The current Grand National favourite is 2024 winner I Am Maximus who will be looking to win the race for a second time.

And there’s not much to suggest he won’t go very close. Being one of the JP McManus Grand National runners, he has to be respected and he’s produced some great runs so far this season.
