Promising Three-Year-Old Publish Ruled Out Of 2,000 Guineas

Publish, who was second-favourite for the upcoming 2,000 Guineas has been ruled out of the race after facing an early season setback.

Well-Fancied 2,000 Guineas Hope Publish Ruled Out Of Newmarket

Publish, who was well-fancied to win next month’s 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket has been ruled out of the race after a setback.

Juddmonte released the following statement on Friday morning on John & Thady Gosden’s charge.

Unfortunately, Publish was found to be lame yesterday. Early indication has suggested he will need a number of weeks out of work, which means he will not be ready for early season targets. A further veterinary examination will be required to determine when he will get back to the racecourse.

Whilst Publish didn’t achieve that much as a two-year-old, there was plenty of promise ahead of his three-year-old campaign.

On debut at Sandown, he ran into trouble up the far rail and was denied a clear run – many believed he would have won well that day if getting a passage through.

He was a huge eyecatcher on debut and he would go on to win a maiden over the same course and distance the next time he ran.

After a couple of months off the track he would head to the Listed Ascendant Stakes at Haydock. He was beaten by eventual Group 2 scorer Bow Echo – who is now the rock solid 2,000 Guineas favourite.
