See below the ReadHorseRacing Grand National jockey colours guide to help you quickly spot your fancied runners ahead of Saturday’s big race at Aintree.

With 34 runners lining up for the world’s greatest steeplechase, picking out the horse you want to cheer home isn’t always straightforward.

That’s why it pays to familiarise yourself with the jockey colours beforehand—identify them before the off, then keep an eye out at the start and follow them as best you can throughout the full 4m 2½f.

💡Top Tip: If an owner has two or more runners, the jockey colours will feature different caps to help tell them apart.

Plus each horse’s Grand National profile – including trainer, weight, age and jockey – plus the ReadHorseRacing star-rating.

1. I AM MAXIMUS

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 11-12
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Odds: 15/2

📝Comment: 2024 winner of the Grand National and beaten only 2 ½ lengths into second last year. Back rated a pound higher than 2025 and 9lbs higher than his win.

Likely to be the mount of Paul Townend too and despite his big weight loves this track.

Plus will head into the 2026 renewal as one of the big Grand National favourites as he looks to become the first horse since Red Rum in 1977 to win back his crown.

Having his third run in the race and with form figures that read 1st-2nd, it’s hard to ignore his chance.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

2. NICK ROCKETT

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 11-11
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: Patrick Mullins
  • Odds: 18/1

📝Comment: 2025 Grand National winner when blasting home for jockey Patrick Mullins. Has only run once since, when third at Down Royal last month.

Sure to come on for that run and is back rated only 4lbs higher than 12 months ago as trainer Willie Mullins hunts his fourth win in the race.

Will be looking to join Tiger Roll and Red Rum as only the third ‘back-to-back’ National winner since 1974.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

3. BANBRIDGE

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 11-11
  • Trainer: Joseph O’Brien
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Odds: 50/1

📝Comment: 2024 King George VI Chase winner and was a close second in the same Kempton race over Christmas this season.

Last seen running 3rd in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and hasn’t won a race since his famous KG success (5 races ago).

Will want the ground good or faster, but staying this trip is the big unknown – having been well beaten in the 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup over 3m 2 1/2f.

Running in the Grand National and over these fences for the first time.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

4. GRANGECLARE WEST

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 11-10
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Odds: 10/1

📝Comment: Another with a top recent Grand National pedigree – having finished a close (3 lengths) third in 2025.

Is rated just 3lbs higher this time and has returned this season better than ever – winning the Bobbyjo Chase, which has been a top Grand National Trial race in recent years – with the last two winners also winning that Fairyhouse race.

With track experience and winning recent form – heads here with a big chance of going two places better than 2025.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

5. GERRI COLOMBE

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 11-10
  • Trainer: Gordon Elliott
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Odds: 33/1

📝Comment: Classy staying chaser on his day – winning 7 of  his 13 career starts over fences and has only been out of the first three once over the bigger obstacles.

Beat the 2025 National winner Nick Rockett at Down Royal last time, but is 6lbs worse off this time.

Prior to that was also second in the Bobbyjo Chase to Grangeclare West back in February.

While, despite this being his first try over the National fences, he does have a good record at Aintree – winning at both the 2023 & 2024 National meetings.

Will be looking to give trainer Gordon Elliott a fourth success in the race after Silver Birch and Tiger Roll (two) have won for him in the past.

Lively outsider.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

6. HAITI COULEURS

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 11-10
  • Trainer: Rebecca Curtis
  • Jockey: Sean Bowen
  • Odds: 16/1

📝Comment: Won the Welsh Grand National this season and also took the Irish National in 2025 – so is looking for a famous treble.

The last horse to win the Welsh National and Aintree National in the same season was Earth Summit in 1997/98.

Has also won the Denman Chase this season, but will need to bounce back from being pulled up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last time.

First run over the National fences, but has won a chase at Aintree (Nov 24).

Stamina assured, plus any rain won’t be an issue, but has won on good ground in the past too and top jockey Sean Bowen rides.

Big chance.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

8. FIREFOX

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 11-4
  • Trainer: Gordon Elliott
  • Jockey:
  • Odds: 100/1

📝Comment: Another from the Gordon Elliott yard that has a fine record in the race (3 wins).

But last seen running well down the field in the Cheltenham Gold Cup (6th, beaten 26 lengths).

While stamina is a huge unknown, with both career wins over fences coming over 2m4f.

First run in the race, but was second in the Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree in 2024.

Star Rating: ⭐

9. MONTY’S STAR

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 11-3
  • Trainer: Henry De Bromhead
  • Jockey:TBC
  • Odds: 20/1

📝Comment: Interesting runner for the 2021 winning yard of Henry De Bromhead.

Often seen strutting his stuff in Grade One chases – like the Savills Chase and Irish Gold Cup – but is yet to win one of these big races.

Heads here without a win in eight, with his last success in December 2023 – but is into a handicap here so could find things a tad easier.

First run in the race and at Aintree.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

10. SPANISH HARLEM

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 11-3
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Odds: 50/1

📝Comment: Won the Kerry National win 2025 at Listowel – beating Three Card Brag by 4 ½ lengths.

Is, however, 9lbs worse off with that Gordon Elliott runner. Would have gone close in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park in January if he’d not unseated late on.

But needs to bounce back from being pulled up in the Bobbyjo Chase last time out.

First run in the race and at Aintree.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

11. LECKY WATSON

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 11-2
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey:
  • Odds: 40/1

📝Comment: Surprise winner of the 2025 Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival – but hasn’t won a race since (5).

8th (of 9) and well beaten in the Bobbyjo Chase last time out so needs a return to form on what will be his first run in the race.

But is another from the powerful Willie Mullins yard so could bounce back now in a handicap for the first time.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

12. CHAMP KIELY

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 11-1
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Odds: 80/1

📝Comment: Yet another WIllie Mullins Grand National runner, but would be a shock if he’s giving the Closutton handler his fourth win in the race.

That said, was a Grade One Novice Chase winner at Punchestown last season, but was well beaten last time in the Irish Gold Cup at the DRF at Leopardstown.

Another that is also having his first run in the race and at Aintree.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

13. IROKO

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 11-1
  • Trainer: Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero
  • Jockey:
  • Odds: 12/1

📝Comment: One of the many Grand National runners in the race for JP McManus – as he looks for his fourth success in the race.

Punters will remember him coming 4th in the race last season too – beaten only 7 ½ lengths – and is back rated 5lbs higher.

Lightly-raced this season with only three runs (won at Ascot in December) but needs to bounce back from only 10th (of 22) in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham last time out – when also scoping dirty after the race.

But form at the track reads well 3-2-4 and that experience of the National fences last year is a big plus.

Leading playing having also had a wind op since last season’s run in the race.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

14. FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU

  • Age: 11
  • Weight: 11-1
  • Trainer: Gordon Elliott
  • Jockey:
  • Odds: 40/1

📝Comment: Last seen running second in the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March – and gets in here off the same mark (157).

Having won over 3m 5 1/2f too, we know he’ll stay and two of the last seven National winners have come out of the Cross Country race.

Will be looking to give his owners (Gigginstown House Stud) a fourth win in the race and be the first 11 year-old to win since Pineau De Re in 2014.

Lively outsider.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

15. THREE CARD BRAG

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 11-0
  • Trainer: Gordon Elliott
  • Jockey:
  • Odds: 66/1

📝Comment: Last seen running well down the field (7th) in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse (beaten favourite) – but before that was a close second in the Coral Gold Cup (Hennessy) at Newbury.

Is only rated a pound higher than that run and is 10lbs better off with the winner that day Panic Attack (6 ½ lengths).

However, was also 11th in the Grand National last season (beaten 45 lengths), so needs to improve on that and is rated 10lbs higher.

A bit on an in-and-out performer.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

16. OSCARS BROTHER

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 10-13
  • Trainer: Connor King
  • Jockey:
  • Odds: 16/1

📝Comment: Only had 6 career runs over fences (3 wins) so those against him might look to that inexperience.

Last seen running 4th in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival – however, was only beaten 5 ½ lengths that day

Yet to race beyond 3m 1f, so stamina is unknown, but gets in here with just 10-13 in weight and is another JP McManus Grand National runner.

First run in the race but with the last two winners aged 8 – could be the perfect age.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

17. MR VANGO

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-12
  • Trainer: Sara Bradstock
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 80/1

📝Comment: Mr Vango finally gets a chance to run in the Grand National after missing out last year due to being too high in the handicap.

He’s had a quiet season with all roads leading to Aintree. He’s been pulled up on his last two starts but he didn’t have optimal conditions either time.

Will want plenty of rain to fall to have any chance, had wind surgery recently and stays all day long.

Also has plenty of stamina having won the 2025 Midlands Grand National – but now rated 9lbs higher.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

18. HIGH CLASS HERO

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 10-11
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 66/1

📝Comment: High Class Hero was fairly progressive last season and finished third in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown.

Came into this season with high hopes in top level handicaps but after a solid reappearance back in November, he’s fallen off drastically.

Pulled up on his last two starts and has work to do to feature here. Is versatile ground wise though.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

19.  STELLAR STORY

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 10-11
  • Trainer: Gordon Elliott
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 25/1

📝Comment: Stellar Story has run with credit on numerous occasions this season and is a strong stayer.

This huge step up in trip is worth exploring and he could be one of his trainer’s leading chances.

Had the beating of a few of his Aintree rivals in the Bobbyjo at Fairyhouse last time out, but also had two re-opposing rivals in front of him when finishing third. Decent chance.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

20. BEAUPORT

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-11
  • Trainer Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 125/1

📝Comment: Beauport finished 12th in this race last year and he’s been a solid horse for his connections over the years.

But his form this season doesn’t give any indication that he’ll finish any closer this time around.

Had a short break since finishing fourth in the Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock in February.

However, we know he’ll stay – having won the 2024 Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

21. CAPTAIN CODY

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 10-10
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 20/1

📝Comment: Captain Cody has been a fair handicapper over the last couple of seasons over fences and had his biggest day yet when winning the Scottish Grand National up at Ayr last season.

Mostly always runs his race and wouldn’t be a surprise winner at all.

Seems versatile ground wise and should be primed for this after a prep run in the Bobbyjo last time out.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

22. JAGWAR

  • Age: 7
  • Weight: 10-10
  • Trainer: Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 12/1

📝Comment: Jagwar has been a huge talking point in the lead-up to the Grand National. Came second at Cheltenham in the Ultima on his only start over three miles.

Best performances usually come there and this will be a whole different test, needs to prove he stays and that his jumping is good enough to win a Grand National.

He made plenty of errors in the Ultima and still finished second. While at 7 Jagwar would only the the third winner of that age since 1940.

It’s a big if, but if he can jump smoothly he may well just be on the premises turning for home.

Mark Walsh expected to ride.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

23. PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 10-9
  • Trainer: Gavin Cromwell
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 40/1

📝Comment: Perceval Legallois heads to the Grand National with no prep run after he was a non-runner at Down Royal a few weeks back.

He was last seen finishing fourth to Ryanair winner Heart Wood at Tramore on New Years Day.

Fell in this race last year when in the middle of the pack. Hard to know where he would have come.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

24. GORGEOUS TOM

  • Age: 8
  • Weight: 10-9
  • Trainer: Henry de Bromhead
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 33/1

📝Comment: Gorgeous Tom has good form in big field handicaps but he’s never looked like he was crying out for this big step up in trip.

Was a beaten favourite when last seen in a big-field handicap at Leopardstown but ran solid in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury the time before that.

Should appreciate the return to a sounder surface and his good form on dry ground does give a slight chance.

Sure to have plenty of ‘good-looking’ Toms backing him.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

25. THE REAL WHACKER

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-9
  • Trainer: Patrick Neville
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 100/1

📝Comment: The Real Whacker is a solid stayer who tries this trip for the first time.

Hasn’t won since November 2024 and has looked a shadow of the horse that won a Brown Advisory at Cheltenham in 2023.

Probably got zero chance here.

Star Rating:

26. QUAI DE BOURBON

  • Age: 7
  • Weight: 10-9
  • Trainer: Willie Mullins
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 40/1

📝Comment: Quai De Bourbon was a fantastic third when favourite for last year’s Irish Grand National and produced his best performance of the season when last seen a big handicap at Fairyhouse.

Pulled up on his last two races before that and hasn’t been the most reliable sort this season and he would be hard to trust which version shows up at Aintree.

If he runs close to that Irish National third then he could have an each-way chance. Big ask though.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

27. ANSWER TO KAYF

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-8
  • Trainer: Terence O’Brien
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 66/1

📝Comment: Answer To Kayf has been in a rich vein of form this season and won the Troytown back in November.

Followed that up with two fourth-place efforts in hot handicaps.

Like most of his rivals he does have plenty to prove but he might well stay considering he came 6th over almost four miles at Punchestown last May.

Not completely written off and might be well handicapped.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

28. JORDANS

  • Age: 7
  • Weight: 10-8
  • Trainer: Joseph O’Brien
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 28/1

📝Comment: Jordans hasn’t been at his best this season but holds great form from last season when novice chasing.

Could be the type to bounce back but not an obvious stayer although this has been his target since the start of the season.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

29. FINAL ORDERS

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-5
  • Trainer: Gavin Cromwell
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 25/1

📝Comment: Final Orders was a brilliant winner of the Cross Country last time out at Cheltenham and has ran four huge races over those obstacles this season.

Could have a say here and looks like the Grand National is worth exploring – especially if the ground remains on the quicker side.

Seems to be in the best form of his life at the age of 10 and this kind of challenge seems to bring out the best of him.

Place claims off a low weight.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

30. MARBLE SANDS

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-5
  • Trainer: David Killahena & Graeme McPherson
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 125/1

📝Comment: Marble Sands has appreciated going up to 3m+ this season but didn’t show up on this course when 12th in the Topham last season.

Can run well fresh but he’s up against it after being off since Boxing Day. Was a Grade 3 winner at Cheltenham in November though.

Plus could be the only Grand National grey horse running in the race – as he looks become only the fourth ‘silver fox’ winner.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

31. PANIC ATTACK

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-5
  • Trainer: Dan Skelton
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 16/1

📝Comment: Panic Attack is a Grand National mare who’s been in the form of her life this season, winning two hot handicaps in November last year including the Coral Gold Cup.

Was run off her feet in the Mares’ Chase at Cheltenham when seen last but given her connections she wouldn’t be the biggest surprise winner here.

That Newbury win bodes well as she had some re-opposing rivals well beaten and she’s one of the leading British hopes.

She’ll be bidding to become the 14th winning Grand National mare and the first success in the race for champion jumps trainer Dan Skelton.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

32. TOP OF THE BILL

  • Age: 10
  • Weight: 10-5
  • Trainer: Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 125/1

📝Comment: Top Of The Bill was second in the Grand National Trial at Haydock back in February and ran a big race that day.

He gets in here off a low weight but likely to get outclassed. If there is a 100/1 shot that can run well though, it could be him.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐

33. JOHNNYWHO

  • Age: 9
  • Weight: 10-4
  • Trainer: Jonjo & AJ O’Neill
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 16/1

📝Comment: Johnnywho was a great winner of the Ultima at Cheltenham last time out and that usually serves as a decent trial for this race.

Was fifth in the Irish National last year so he’s worth a go in a contest of this nature.

One of many Grand National runners for JP McManus.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

34.TWIG

  • Age: 11
  • Weight: 10-4
  • Trainer: Ben Pauling
  • Jockey: TBC
  • Price: 66/1

📝Comment: Twig won the Becher Chase (over the National fences) at Aintree back in December and finished 10th in this race last year.

He clearly acts over these obstacles so could be in with an each-way shout here after his best season for a while.

Had a prep run at Uttoxeter last month and should be ready for this.
