Veracious ruled out of the Qipco 1000 Guineas

Veracious has been ruled out of the Qipco 1000 Guineas due to some difficulty faced during training, according to a report on Sky Sports.

Trainer Sir Michael Stoute confirmed the disappointing news and revealed that it was a “training setback” which was the main cause.

The horse was tipped to do quite well after winning the Newmarket maiden last October and had be impressive in a gallop before racing at last week’s Craven meeting.

Understandably, Stoute was in low spirits after the news and in a statement, he said:

Veracious will not be running in the 1000 Guineas because she has had a training setback.

Chris Richardson, who is the managing director of owner Cheveley Park Stud confirmed that Veracious is lame and she will undergo tests over the course of the week to find out more details about the problem.

He said:

I spoke to Sir Michael Stoute and I don’t know exactly what it is, but she is not 100 per cent right.

She is lame in behind and I think they are going to do some more tests and examinations to try to establish what it is.

Frankie Dettori was very happy with her gallop on Wednesday and it looked good. We are all very disappointed.
