This is a horse that apparently runs his races half asleep, according to trainer Gordon Elliott. All eyes will be on the incredibly good-looking Samcro at the Festival this year. With wins in each of his last three races, he has the whole of Britain talking ahead of the Festival in just under two weeks time.
The unbeaten six-year-old is set to spearhead a strong team of horses travelling over from Ireland for the four day meet. Elliott will be looking to add to his tally of 639 winners in his fantastic career as a trainer, but this won’t come easily. There seems to be a slight concern in the Gigginstown camp regarding Samcro, and having to travel to England for the first time. As some of you may recall, Elliott sent over the highly rated Death Duty last year and a lot was expected that day, but unfortunately the short journey over from Ireland took its toll.

Apple’s Jade will also be in action defending her crown in the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle after her excellent performance last year. She will be fancied to win again here with the excellent female jockey Lisa O’Neill speaking extremely highly of the horse this week and will be giving everything to regain the crown for Gigginstown.
Finally, I would like to mention the fantastic Cause of Causes – which, I may add, has been one of my favourite horses over the years. This stable favourite will be looking to win the Glenfarclass Cross-Country Chase for the fourth time in his glamorous career. I think a lot of fans will be looking forward to seeing this superb jumping ten-year-old back in action at the Festival.
Thirty of forty horses from team Gigginstown are expected to be arriving in the fantastic location of the Cotswolds in just over a week’s time.
