Limato plans unclear according to Candy

Trainer Henry Candy will not make any quick decisions on where his star sprinter Limato will head next after the five-year-old finished a bitterly disappointing 10th in the Al Quoz Sprint on Meydan’s star-studded Dubai World Cup card on Saturday.

Limato, known for his liking of fast ground, was always going to struggle at Meydan after the track suffered a series of heavy rainstorms which changed the ground on the turf course to soft.

Never really in contention in the six-furlong Group One event, which was eventually won by The Right Man, Candy will not be rushed into making a decision for the son of Tagula’s next port-of-call.

An impressive winner of the Darley July Cup at Newmarket and the Group One Qatar Prix De La Foret at Chantilly on Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe day in October last season, connections opted for Dubai in the hope of quick ground.

However, Candy is keen to write off that run and said:

He got back on Monday night. He’s OK. The ground went totally against him. I’ve no idea yet what we’ll do with him next. We’ll sit and think about it for a week or two.
