Meade keen on Grand National duo

Irish handler Noel Meade believes Measureofmydreams and Wounded Warrior hold live chances in the Randox Health Grand National run at 5:15pm at Aintree on Saturday.

Meade, no stranger to big-race success, was the beneficiary of a dispute between owners Gigginstown House Stud and Closutton handler Willie Mullins as he was given Measureofmydreams to train after the break-up in relations between Gigginstown and Mullins.

However, the son of Shantou has disappointed in two starts for Meade. He was pulled-up on his debut for the yard in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park before finishing a well-beaten 13th in the Grade Three Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

However, County Meath handler is hopeful the nine-year-old gelding will improve on his first two starts for the yard.

Meade also runs Wounded Warrior, a talented yet fragile individual who has suffered a litany of problems throughout his career.

The eight-year-old was pulled up in the Grade Three Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on his latest outing but Meade is hopeful of an improved run at Liverpool by the son of Shantou. Meade said:

Both horses are in good form and will definitely travel over. Sean (Flanagan) rides one of them, although I am not sure which, and I am not 100 per cent sure who rides the other one yet.

They both went to the Curragh last week for a school over the Grand National fences and it could not have gone better. Both jumped brilliantly.
