According to the official result at Ayr, Turnstile landed a 40/1 shock in the Ayr nursery in the Get Home Safe With Thistle Cabs EBF Nursery Handicap Stakes on Friday. Duran Fentiman’s mount claimed the 6-furlong Class 2 event by 0.75 lengths from Crystal Queen, posting a winning time of 1m 15.34s on soft ground.
The Tim Easterby-trained colt sat close to the pace early before being asked for his effort two furlongs out. Turnstile hit the front approaching the final furlong and, though edging off a true line under pressure, held on grimly to score. Crystal Queen, the 18/1 choice trained by Richard & Peter Fahey, chased hard but could not close the gap—confirming solid value for those who took the 40/1 on offer in the Turnstile Ayr nursery market.

Mind Those Steps, another Tim Easterby runner at 28/1 odds, took third after being held up in midpack before pressing inside the final furlong. Baddaddan, Richard Spencer’s 11/1 entry, finished fourth, with Furturra, also from the Easterby yard at 9/1 ridden by Joanna Mason, completing the placed horses in fifth.
Pre-race favourite Trumpety Trump, trained by Jim Goldie at 5/1, made the running early but faded considerably to finish seventh. The Ayr card on Friday also featured the Listed Arran Scottish Sprint, where Fluorescence claimed honours, and the Harry Rosebery Stakes, won by Mussab at 9/2 for Richard & Peter Fahey.
