Dubai World Cup 2026 Updated Purse Overview
The total purse for the 2026 renewal stands at $12 million. That figure matches recent years and keeps Meydan among the richest fixtures anywhere in racing.
Meydan splits that sum across the first eight finishers. The champion takes home roughly $7 million, comfortably the largest single share of the purse, with the remaining places sharing what is left.

Second place earns a substantial sum, though nowhere near the winner’s take. The placings from third down to eighth then share out what remains of the $12 million pot, tapering steeply toward the last two horses to be paid.

Dubai World Cup horse racing 2026 pays its winner around $7 million, and the race ranks as the second richest in the world. Only the $20 million Saudi Cup offers a bigger prize, which keeps Meydan’s showpiece just behind Riyadh on the global rich list.
Last year’s renewal went to Hit Show, trained by Brad Cox for owner Wathnan Racing. The win underlined how quickly Wathnan Racing has grown into one of the sport’s leading owners.
What Happens Next for Meydan Showpiece
Pre-race speculation this year raised concerns that wider troubles across the Middle East might disrupt the Dubai World Cup meeting. Official schedules confirmed those worries came to nothing. The 2026 race went ahead as planned on March 28.
