KILBEGGAN, 20:18 – The bumper that closed Kilbeggan’s Saturday card went the way of the outsider of six, Confidence Within powering nine and a half lengths clear at 10/1 under Miss P Elvin for trainer P J Rothwell in the Connellan & Noone Solicitors LLP Longford INH Flat Race.

The Race Story
On ground good, good to yielding in places, the two-mile flat race looked a match on the book between Hot Rock Harry and Mr Enigma. It never became one. Confidence Within, largely unconsidered at 10/1, drew right away up the straight to score by nine and a half lengths – the widest winning margin of the night at the Westmeath track.
Hot Rock Harry, the 2/1 favourite for Gavin Cromwell’s yard, took second, six and a half lengths ahead of Mr Enigma (5/2), with the remainder strung out: Inishtearaght almost four lengths further back in fourth, Appy Ways (3/1) a distant fifth and 33/1 shot Srah trailing in last.
Tipster Accountability
A flat note to finish. Our morning Kilbeggan preview sided with the Emmet Mullins-trained Inishtearaght at 2/1, but the market told the story long before the off – he drifted to 11/2 and ran to those odds in fourth. The preview had also flagged Appy Ways as the one to watch in the betting; he was sent off 3/1 and beaten over 40 lengths. That leaves the Kilbeggan verdicts at three from seven on the day, though value calls Cooladdi and Rocky’s Diamond both obliged earlier. No tracked tipster in today’s accountability review had a runner here.
