The second day of the 2026 Newmarket July Festival will see FOUR more ITV Racing scheduled races, including the Group One Falmouth Stakes – where all eyes will be on recent Coronation Stakes winner Precise.
Inner City Blues, Rebel’s Romance and Calico Blue (e/w) were nice winners for Andy at Newmarket on day one.

Newmarket Horse Racing Tips On Friday 10th July 2026: It Could Be a Favourites Day at HQ

13:50 NEWMARKET (JULY) Oddschecker Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (GBBplus Race) Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m2f ITV
Just the six runners here, but a tight little heat – with some claims for them all.
Princling is the likely favourite for the William Haggas yard after his 2 1/2 length 5th in the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot (see below).
Many will think he was a tad unlucky that day too – running on well and seemingly taking a small bump in the closing stages.
But I think he still had plenty of time to go by and didn’t have the pace to do so.
We’ve only seen 3 winning favourites in the last 19 too, so the jury is very much out for me on Princling.
Decade Of Time has done well to win his last two and is into a handicap for the first time here.
He had Heraldry beaten into second two runs ago too at Windsor so has form with that Gosden runner.
However, HERALDRY was giving away 7lbs that day and was only beaten 1 1/4 lengths and his now 10lbs better off.
He’s also into a handicap for the first time and I think he can turn the tables with William Buick, who has won 2 of the last 4 runnings, booked to ride.
🥇HERALDRY

🥉PRINCLING
14:25 NEWMARKET (JULY) Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (Sponsored By bet365) (Group 2) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV
Some promising fillies on show here, including Queen Mary Stakes second Senorita Bonita, with Oisin Murphy riding.
While Alwaysanangel, Ruby Moon and Etonnante all won on debuts and so put their unbeaten records on the line.
However, another horse that’s coming here undefeated is LIBERTANGO, who is 2-2 after nice wins at Leicester on debut and last time at Royal Ascot in the Albany Stakes.
She’ll be looking to take the same two races in as last year’s winner Venetian Sun, who also landed the Albany.
The second at Ascot – Sun Goddess – has since won a G2 at the Curragh to bolster the form and even the 11th – Roxelina – bolted up in midweek at Wolves.
Billy Loughnane rides again and so with the Albany form already well-advertised, Libertango can dance to victory again.

15:00 NEWMARKET (JULY) Betway Trophy (Heritage Handicap) (GBBplus Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 1m6f ITV
I’ve been harping on about the form of an Ascot race run in early May for a while now – on here and the on the Final Furlong Podcast – with winners galore coming out of it.
These include the third Opportunity, who landed the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot. Plus, the 6th Valedictory, who lines-up again here.
And also the 4th Too Soon won at Epsom, not to mention the 11th (In The Breeze) and 13th (Boatswain) also winning since.
But we’ve also got the winner of that contest – WINE DARK SEA – back for more and he’s also gone in again since.
He bolted up at Carlisle at the end of last month by 13 lengths and is remarkably only up 6lbs for that.
He carried 10-1 that day too in a C4 race, but upped in grade here has only 8-12 to lump.
The only question mark is the step up to 1m6f (from 1m3f), but it’s fair to say he was hardly stopping the last day.
Wine Dark Sea is taken to sail home again with Valedictory and last year’s winner Oneforthegutter can follow him home.

15:35 NEWMARKET (JULY) Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV
Porta Fortuna won the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Falmouth Stakes – PRECISE can become the next.
This year’s Irish 1000 Guineas winner showed a gutsy attitude to see off Touleen last time at Ascot and the opposition here looks a tad easier.
Yes, the improving Blue Bolt was super impressive when landing the G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Ascot last time out – with Jancis back in second.
The runner-up is 3lbs better off this time, but the pair still have to give 9lbs away to Precise and that will ultimately be the difference – with Blue Bolt (115) rated the same as the selection.
Of the rest, the Donnacha O’Brien runner Balantina was only 3 1/2 lengths behind Precise last time at Ascot (5th) and could get closer this time with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th all not running.
But overall I’m happy to take aim at Precise, who can give Aidan O’Brien a third Falmouth Stakes win.
🥇PRECISE
🥈BLUE BOLT
🥉BALANTINA
