Lost Boys Goodwood Target Set As Wathnan Racing Takes Steady Route

Lost Boys is being aimed at the Coral Kincsem Heritage Handicap at Goodwood on July 30 after Wathnan Racing decided to keep David Menuisier’s Royal Ascot winner in handicap company.

The colt has gone unbeaten through 2026 and made it four wins in a row when landing the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot, his first start since joining Wathnan Racing.

That success earned him a 7lb rise, but Wathnan racing adviser Richard Brown has indicated the team will resist the temptation to rush him straight into deeper company.

Why Goodwood Is Next For Lost Boys

Brown told At The Races that Lost Boys is exciting but will be brought along gradually, with Goodwood seen as a suitable next step rather than a leap into pattern company.

The decision is significant because Wathnan have a major Goodwood focus through Qatar’s backing of the meeting, while Lost Boys’ Ascot performance put him firmly on the radar as one of the operation’s sharper recent recruits.

Brown also pointed to the way Lost Boys overcame a messy race at Ascot, pulling hard before settling and quickening through a gap in the straight. That finishing response appears to have encouraged connections, even if the immediate plan remains measured.

Wathnan could also have Paborus on their Goodwood team sheet for the Lennox Stakes, provided the ground does not contain firm in the description.
