Ka Ying Rising has begun his build-up towards The Everest as David Hayes maps a Sha Tin trial route, while Brett Crawford sends Public Attention into the Hong Kong Reunification Cup on Wednesday, 1 July.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club confirmed the dual thread ahead of Sha Tin’s 11-race public-holiday card, with the Class 2 Hong Kong Reunification Cup Handicap over 1400 metres giving Crawford a useful marker for Public Attention and the wider meeting also carrying a major international subplot through Ka Ying Rising’s programme.
Public Attention, an Australian Group 3 winner, carries 115lb and meets nine rivals as he searches for a first Hong Kong win after four placings from seven appearances.
Karis Teetan takes the ride from gate five, and Crawford said the step up to 1400 metres should suit the Written Tycoon gelding.
Hayes Sets Ka Ying Rising Route To Australia
Hayes said Ka Ying Rising is in strong shape after a spell and will build through canters, two trials and a Sha Tin return before heading back to Australia for the Group 1 Everest over 1200 metres. The champion sprinter has won 20 consecutive races and is reported to have put on weight during his break.
The same Hong Kong Jockey Club update also notes Crawford has 25 wins this season, underlining why Public Attention’s performance matters beyond one holiday handicap.
