Splash Back has won the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm, giving trainer Grahame Begg and jockey Jordan Childs a major Australian season-ending prize on Saturday.
The French-bred mare landed the fillies-and-mares feature over 1400 metres on a Soft 6 surface, with the result confirmed in the Racing Queensland race report.
Splash Back was returned at $8.50 and struck in Race 8 on Tattersall’s Tiara day, defeating Savagery Vibe and Gerringong in Australia’s final Group 1 of the 2025-26 campaign.
Begg plan pays off at Eagle Farm
For Begg, the victory completed a carefully aimed Queensland campaign with a mare who had already sharpened her profile by winning the Group 2 Victory Stakes earlier in the winter.
The Tiara had opened up through the week as several high-profile mares bypassed the race, but Splash Back still had to convert that opportunity against a deep field at weight-for-age.
Childs delivered the decisive ride on a mare who usually needs cover and luck from off the pace, and the win adds another elite-level success to a partnership that has been building through the Australian autumn and winter.
The result also gives Splash Back fresh broodmare and international value, with a Group 1 now attached to a profile that already carried European bloodlines and improving Australian form.
It was a sharp, consequence-heavy result for a late-June global racing window dominated by Classic build-up in Ireland and major dirt action in the United States.
