Aqueduct Final Race Set For June 28 As NYRA Marks Big A Farewell
Aqueduct Racetrack will stage its final day of live racing on Sunday, June 28, with NYRA confirming the closing card will end with a race called It Was a Good Run at 5:44pm Eastern.
The Queens track, long known as the Big A, is entering its final weekend as a live racing venue, giving New York racing one last two-day farewell before the sport’s year-round focus shifts to the redeveloped Belmont Park operation.
Closing Day Gives The Big A A Named Send-Off
NYRA’s closing-day schedule lists gates opening at 11:00am and first post at 1:10pm, with the John Hettinger for New York-bred fillies and mares among the final-day stakes action. The racecourse’s last contest has been named pointedly, and neatly, as It Was a Good Run.
The farewell is more than a fixture note. Aqueduct has carried 132 years of New York racing history, from winter cards to major championship stepping stones, and its final programme closes a distinct chapter for owners, trainers, jockeys and regulars who built routines around the Ozone Park track.
Full attendance and race-day details are available through NYRA’s Aqueduct farewell information, with the final weekend framed as both a send-off and a handover into the next Belmont Park era.
