ITV Racing To Show SIX Races From Epsom On Derby Day
There might not be as many races as other ITV Racing weekends but it’s still one of the biggest days in the flat racing calendar.
The ITV Racing cameras head to Epsom for SIX races on Saturday, where we see the Epsom Derby taking centre stage.
We’re also treated to a Coronation Cup rematch between Jan Breughel and Calandagan.

ITV Racing Epsom Tips: Trixie Selections On Derby Day

14:05 Epsom – Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Group 3, 1m 1/2f): PINA SONATA
An interesting race, but PINA SONATA appeals to me after such a great run on her seasonal reappearance.
She beat some good fillies when landing the Listed Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton at the end of March.
The form of that has been franked with Cathedral (3rd) and Survie (4th) both placing in the Group 2 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on Guineas weekend.
And four-year-olds do very well in this contest, winning six of the last seven renewals.
She will get the extra half-a-furlong with no problem and I think she’s the one to beat here.
If the Epsom going has any soft in it at all then that won’t be an issue given she won a Leicester Novice easily last season on good to soft ground.
15:15 – Betfred ‘Dash’ Handicap (Class 2, 5f): DREAM COMPOSER
I like this race a lot and it’s always tough to find the winner but I’m siding with DREAM COMPOSER who won this two years ago.
He won the 2024 renewal off 89 and races here off 84, so is well handicapped.
There has been plenty to like about his two starts since joining Tony Carroll and he made a winning debut for the yard in a decent Ripon handicap.
And he almost made it two-from-two for Carroll at Goodwood when seen last. He had a horrible trip when struggling for room but ran on strongly in the final furlong and only lost by half-a-length.
The handicapper only gave him a 1lb rise after that so I think he might be able to strike again on a mark of this nature.
Has won off much higher in the past and at seven he’s still full of enthusiasm for the game so I think he can win this race for a second time in three years. Stall six should be fine as well.
16:00 – Betfred Derby (Group 1, 1m4f): PIERRE BONNARD
And my Epsom tips this Saturday wouldn’t be complete without a selection in the Derby.
I like the chances of PIERRE BONNARD since he was long seen as the Ballydoyle number one for Epsom having been favourite for most of the winter.
He had a terrific two-year-old campaign over a mile and 1m2f and this step up in trip should unlock that untapped potential.
His first start of this season can be forgotten as connections suggested he was always going to come on for the run.
The son of Camelot then went back to Leopardstown for a Derby trial where he was done on the line by James J Braddock – who also lines up again.
He did nothing wrong that day and the way he finished off the race suggested that he’ll relish the extra two furlongs here.
Christophe Soumillon taking the ride is also a big positive considering he rode some great winners for Ballydoyle last season in place of Ryan Moore.
