Why Is The Belmont Stakes Being Run At Saratoga?
Instead of being held at its traditional home of Belmont Park, the Belmont Stakes will be ran at Saratoga – but why?
Well, there is construction work happening at Belmont Park with over $400 million being spent on the renovation.
The changes include a modernization of the grandstand, racing infrastructure and much more.
Saratoga is hosting the Belmont Stakes for a third year in a row now, but it will return to Belmont Park in 2027.
Renegade Freshened Up For Belmont Stakes Tilt After Derby 2nd
After finishing a very close second in the Kentucky Derby, Renegade is the hot favourite for the Belmont Stakes.
He’s ran well in all three starts so far this season and looks like a colt constantly improving.
Before he was mowed down late by Golden Tempo in the Kentucky Derby, Renegade completed an impressive double at Tampa Bay Downs and Oaklawn Park.
His penultimate win at Oaklawn was in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, beating Silent Tactic by four lengths.
Renegade is a three-year-old on the up and he could give trainer Todd Pletcher a fifth success in the race.

Golden Tempo Could Make More History In Belmont Stakes
After Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby, trainer Cherie DeVaux became the first woman to ever win that race.
If her horse is successful, after being targeted at the Belmont Stakes, then she would become the second woman to win the third leg of the Triple Crown.
The first to do so was Jena Antonucci who trained Arcangelo to win the 2023 Belmont Stakes. It was a landmark for American horse racing as she became the first woman to win ANY Triple Crown race.
Golden Tempo will for sure have his supporters in the Belmont, given he was such a popular winner of the Kentucky Derby.
