ITV Horse Racing Tips From Carlisle On Saturday: Washington Heights To Land The Capital

13:30 CARLISLE – Betway Handicap (Gbbplus Race) Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 1m4f ITV

This looks a good OPPORTUNITY for this William Haggas-trained Frankel gelding to grab a second career win.

He returned with a fair third at Ascot last time, on what was his first run since being gelded and also his first outing for almost a year.

So can be expected to have improved for that and sixth in that race Valedictory has since franked the form by winning last weekend.

🥇OPPORTUNITY
🥈Rogue Millions
🥉Topteam

Key Stats 📈

  • Stressfree won the race in 2025
  • Trainer Andrew Balding has a 33% SR with his runners at Carlisle

14:00 CARLISLE – Betway Reverence Handicap Cl3 (4yo+ 0-90) 6f ITV

Many chances here – including with Recency Bias, Realign and Wild Clary.

But a chance is taken on STATION X steaming home now he’s back up in trip.

Just seemed to get a bit outpaced over 5f the last day, so the return to 6f here is a plus – having won over his trip at Southwell at the end of April.

Kieran Shoemark rides for the first time and this Bryan Smart runner is also only 2lbs higher than that last win.

🥇STATION X
🥈Wild Clary
🥉Realign

Key Stats 📈

  • 8/8 – Aged between 4-6
  • 7/8 – Aged 4 or 5 years-old
  • 6/8 – Drawn in stalls 6 or higher
  • 6/8 – Carried between 9-2 and 9-8 (inc)
  • 6/8 – Carried 9-2 or more in weight
  • 2/8 – Trained by David O’Meara
  • 0/8 – Winning favourites
  • Kodi Lion won the race in 2025
  • The average SP in the last 8 runnings is 9/1
  • Note: This race is normally run at Haydock Park

14:33 CARLISLE- Betway Achilles Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+)5f ITV

With 13 of the last 16 winners aged 5 or older, then the 4yold Redorange is overlooked, despite a good win at Windsor the last day.

Starlust is the top-rated and the class act, but is also back from a 347-day break after being at stud, so fitness has to be take on trust.

So, even though I got battered on the Final Furlong Podcast for this one – I think WASHINGTON HEIGHTS is worthy of support.

For me, he’s looking like he’s running into form from last time, when running 8th in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.

That was in a Group 3, but is not back into Listed level and his last runs at this class read well 1-1-3.

While the winner of that last race – Night Raider – has since franked the form by landing the Temple Stakes at Haydock.

Washington Heights can land the ‘capital’ here, in what looks a race anything can probably win.

🥉Redorange

15:10 CARLISLE – Betway Lester Piggott Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3) (Formerly Pinnacle Stakes) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m4f ITV

The David O’Meara yard have not been in the best of form – but did fire in a 80/1 winner on Wednesday to suggest they might be turning a corner.

With that in mind, their star filly ESTRANGE looks the obvious call here to grab win number five, on what will only be her eighth start.

She also bolted up in this race (when staged at Haydock) last season by 4 1/4 lengths and there is no reason why the stiffer Carlisle track won’t suit either.

Estrange is the call to unfriend her rivals here, with Waardah and recent Saint-Cloud fifth Azaniya the dangers.

🥇ESTRANGE
🥈Azaniya
🥉Waardah

15:45 CARLISLE – Betway Silver Bowl Handicap (Hertitage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo) 1m ITV

I liked BLUE COURVOISIER last week when this race was cancelled and so really I’ve got to stick with him, even though the jury might be out a tad on this stiffer track suiting.

But the Clive Cox yard have a good record in the Silver Bowl – winning two of the last 7 and this Sea The Stars colt was only 3 1/2 lengths behind Dante Stakes winner Item at Bath at the end of September.

He’s since run 2nd and 4th at Newmarket and Ascot, plus with the form of those runs franked several times – including by the likes of Spirit Of Saxony and We’re Goosers – then this is a further plus.

Cox also runs Langstone, who is respected, as are Laurette Crown, Crest Of Fire and Princling.

ITV Horse Racing Tips From Beverley On Saturday: The Dancing Pirate Can Steal The Show

13:45 BEVERLEY – Napoleons Casino Hull Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-85) 1m2f ITV

Not the most appealing race so a chance is taken on the James Owen runner SPORTINGSILVERMINE, with the yard boasting a solid 50% SR (6-12) with their 4+ year-olds at Beverley.

Yes, this Holy Roman Emperor gelding has only won two of his 34 career starts but is slowly slipping back to a fair mark (77), with his last win coming off 73 back in April 25.

Oisin Orr rides and we also know he stays a bit further than this 1m2f trip, so could be ridden with this in mind.

🥇SPORTINGSILVERMINE (e/w)
🥈Sir William
🥉Urban Glimpse

Key Stats 📈

  • No previous runnings
  • Trainer James Owen has a 50% SR with his 4+yolds at Beverley
  • Trainer Charlie Johnston has a 29% SR with his 4+yolds at Beverley
  • Trainer David O’Meara is just 4-65 with his 4+yolds at Beverley

14:15 BEVERLEY – Hilary Needler Trophy EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes (Gbb Race) Cl2 (2yo)5f ITV

With 12 of the last 14 winners foaled in Feb/March, then Kodi Bear Light, who is an April foal, is overlooked despite winning well at Thirsk last time.

While last year’s winning connections are represented by Moonlight Tango.

So a chance is taken on the unraced Havana Grey filly COSMIC MYSTERY, to get the job done at the first time of asking.

This Archie Watson runner was a £220k Breeze-Up Sales buy last month and has been prominent in the betting, which is also another good sign.

Cosmic could unlock the Hilary Needler ‘Mystery’ this year.

  • Argentine Tango won the race in 2025

14:48 BEVERLEY – Beverley Two Year Old Trophy EBF Conditions Stakes Cl2 (2yo) 5f ITV

This has been a good race for the Andrew Balding yard in recent years – winning two of the last four, plus they also boast a 50% SR with their 2 year-olds at Beverley.

Therefore their runner THE DANCING PIRATE is the call to steal this prize.

Last seen running 4th on debut at Newmarket, but that form looks solid – with the 3rd, 5th and 6th all winning since.

CD winner Matteo and Thirsk scorer Arapaho Gold are others to consider.

🥇THE DANCING PIRATE
🥈Matteo
🥉Arapaho Gold

Key Stats 📈

ITV Horse Racing Tips From Chester On Saturday: Korker To Land The Drinks Money

15:30 CHESTER – Virgin Bet Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105)7f ITV

Roman Dragon loves Chester and will be popular as he searches for his fourth career win on the Roodee.

But is up 5lbs more for his last win here and has never won off a mark of 100 – so a career-best is needed.

Supido was a course winner here recently too and is up 4lbs, but in a race that cases can be made for many – a chance is taken on KORKER (e/w).

Yes, this horse has been a hard one to catch right – with 26 runs and no wins, but as a result has dropped to a mark of 91 – which is 11lbs lower than this last winning mark.

While draw 11 is fine as he often likes to race at the back anyway and come with a late run.

🥇KORKER (e/w)
🥈Roman Dragon
🥉Supido

Key Stats 📈

  • Only 1 previous running
  • Myal won the race in 2025
  • Spirit Genie won the race in 2024
  • Both winners aged 4
  • No winning favourite yet
  • Trainer Ian Williams is just 10-79 with his runners at Chester
