Michelle is in hot form after landing the trifecta in the Arkansas Derby in March (Renegade-Silent Tactic-Taptastic) although she didn’t get the Kentucky Derby right last month. So she’s due a big win!
Michelle Yu Preakness Stakes Picks 2026
History was made in the Kentucky Derby when Cherie DeVaux became the first woman trainer to win the race and Michelle Yu is thinking along the same lines here.
Michelle likes the chances of TAJ MAHAL, with hopes that Brittany Russell can become the first woman to win the Preakness Stakes.
“This undefeated Brittany Russell trainee is certainly a horse for the course, having notched all three lifetime wins over this track. He cost more than $500,000 at auction, so expectations have always surrounded him and so far he has lived up to them.
“There will be a class test on Saturday for him, but he deserves the opportunity. He isn’t inching out these wins, he’s winning going away! A woman won the Derby, maybe one can win the Preakness too?”
This Nyquist colt is certainly one of the more interesting Preakness Stakes runners, so we can’t blame Yu for fancying his chances.
