2:20 – JCB Newmarket Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) Cl1 (3yo) 1m2f ITV
Godolphin have a fair record in this race – winning five of the last 12, with trainer Charlie Appleby responsible for 3 of the last 4 winners too.
They team up with POSEIDON’S WARRIOR here, who is the call to carry on the good run for these connections.
Rated 109, I think this 3yold will strip a lot fitter for his recent second in a Listed race here two weeks ago in the Feilden Stakes.
Also ran on well that that day to suggest this step up in trip will be a plus and connections are also reaching for the first-time hood to help settle him, having raced a bit keen the last day.
Poseidon’s Warrior can sink his rivals here.
Gosden’s My Love Is King and Archers Bay can fight it out for the places.
🥇POSEIDON’S WARRIOR
🥈MY LOVE IS KING
🥉ARCHERS BAY

2:55 – Betfred “The Classic Bookmaker” Handicap Cl3 (3yo 0-90) 1m ITV
Several chances here – including Comic Hero, Lake Como, who was 3rd to 2000 Guineas hopeful King’s Trail, and St Anton.
While the unbeaten Objector has been winning as he likes (up in grade) and could be anything.
But it’s hard to get away from the 26% strike-rate at Newmarket that the Charlie Appleby team have.
Oh, and the yard have also won 3 of the last 11 renewals.
They run the unbeaten Wootton Bassett colt FORT ROCK, who has won both his starts on the AW at Kempton.
Switched to the grass today and up from 7f to a mile means he’s got more on his plate.
But the form of those wins has been franked a few times since – notably with a horse called Princling (2nd) winning well last Sunday at Wetherby.
Connor Planas rides and takes off 3lbs too, so Fort Rock looks a ‘solid’ option in a very open affair.
🥇FORT ROCK
🥈LAKE COMO
🥉OBJECTOR

Bay City Roller landed a G1 in Germany at the end of last season, so is the one to beat – but does have to give weight away as a result.
Lion’s Pride is the only CD winner in the line-up and should be thereabouts.
While Sunway has only one win in 18, so is not easy to win with.
So, the pick is EYDON, who isn’t a CD winner, but has won here at Newmarket in the past.
Those wins came in the Aston Stakes in 2025 and the 2022 Feilden Stakes.
He’s a horse that’s gone well fresh in the past too, so the 138-day break is fine and does seem to like the Spring, with two of his three career wins coming at this time of the year.
🥇EYDON
🥈BAY CITY ROLLER
🥉SANTORINI STAR

4:05- Betfred “Nifty 50” Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-105) 7f ITV
The final ITV Racing tip comes in the 4:05pm – an 8-runner handicap.
Elarak and Silver Ghost are the only CD winners in the field – with the first-named coming from the Charles Hills yard, who have a 22% SR with their 4+ year-olds here.
Tom Marquand also catches the eye in the saddle and will be better for a recent fourth at Thirsk.
The form of the Charlie Johnston yard is a small worry (2-34) – they have Benacre entered.
While trainer George Boughey is only 1-33 with their 4+ year-olds at the track, so their Shah has this to overcome.
Therefore, the safer call looks to be to side with GOLDEN REDEMPTION, who represents the Andrew Balding yard that have won two of the last four runnings.
This 4yold returned at the end of March with a fair 3rd at Kempton, but last season I though he progressed well despite only winning once.
He seems to like the faster ground too and will have the in-form Silvestre De Sousa in the plate.
🥇GOLDEN REDEMPTION
🥈ELARAK
🥉SILVER GHOST
