Punchestown Gold Cup Runners 2026: Gaelic Warrior & Fact To File Set For Almighty Clash

See the Punchestown Gold Cup runners as Fact To File and Gaelic Warrior face off for a final time this season in what is set to be an almighty rematch.

Five Punchestown Gold Cup Runners Declared: Fact To File vs Gaelic Warrior

As expected, we have a small field for this season’s Punchestown Gold Cup with five horses declared for Wednesday’s feature race.

The Punchestown Festival comes right at the end of the Irish jumps season, so there’s no surprise that we have some small fields in the biggest races.

Nevertheless, the Gold Cup should still be a cracker as Fact To File and Gaelic Warrior lock horns for the final time this season.

It’ll be the fourth time the two classy stablemates have faced off this season.

Gaelic Warrior was last seen storming to an eight-length win in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, in his greatest ever performance.

As for Fact To File, he’s been kept fresh for this assignment after he was pulled out of the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham. The last time he was in action, he got the better of Gaelic Warrior in the Irish Gold Cup, relishing the test at Leopardstown.

Inothewayurthinkin has also been declared after his staying-on third at Cheltenham. He was never close to Gaelic Warrior last time out but stayed on as if there was still something left under the bonnet.

And Grand National runners Grangeclare West and Champ Kiely will also take part. The latter finished eighth in the Aintree spectacle but Grangeclare West never made it past the first fence when unseating Patrick Mullins.
