TWO Big Scottish Grand National Stats Favourite Kim Roque Needs To OVERCOME

The Joseph O’Brien-trained KIM ROQUE has been popular in the betting for Saturday’s Scottish Grand National – but those siding with him might want to know about some key stats he’ll need to overcome.

Last Scottish Grand National Outright Favourite Was In 1999

As it stands, Kim Roque is the expected Scottish Grand National jolly for Saturday’s big Ayr race.

Of, course, in a tight betting market a lot can still change.

However, if Kim Roque holds his ground at the head of the market – there is some bad news.

The last winning Scottish Grand National OUTRIGHT favourite was Young Kenny in 1999.

Yes, since 2017 we’ve seen Win My Wins (co-fav), Kitty’s Light (j-fav) and Vicente (j-fav) land the race.

But the last jolly outright to take the Scottish Grand National prize money was over 25 years ago.

Suggesting to that this race has been a hard one for punters to get right.

Or, to combat this – the trends bashers out there will also say – we’ll “we are due one then”.

Both could be right, of course, – but the fact remains Young Kenny winning as the 5/2 Scottish Grand National favourite in 1999 is still the most recent.

Scottish Grand National Stats Suggest Kim Roque Might Be Too Young

Next up is the age – as Kim Roque is still a young horse at only 6.

Okay, we saw a winning 6yold just a few years ago when the Willie Mullins-trained MacDermott flew the flag for the youngsters.

And to counteract this Scottish Grand National trend – we have only seen five horses aged 6 run in the race since 2016.

But over the 22 runnings of the race, we’ve still seen a massive 18 winners aged 8+.

Which is a 82% return over this period.

And with the top FIVE in the betting at the moment – Kim Roque, King Of Answers, Montregard and Quebecois – all aged 7 or younger, this bunch will all have this to overcome too.

Other Scottish Grand National Stats Kim Roque Needs To Overcome

Kim Roque also falls down on a few other Scottish Grand National stats – not quite has hefty as the favourite and age ones – but still worth a mention.

As 15 of the last 22 winners (68%) also finished in the top 3 last time out.

And had also won over 3m+ before too.

Kim Roque was 4th last time, albeit staying on (watch below) in the Kim Muir.

While his sole career chase win came over 2m 3 1/2f in France.

He’s now up to 4m and is still to win a race outside of France since joining the Joseph O’Brien camp (4 runs).

Of course, all horse racing stats are there to be shot at and broken – but these are still four big trends Kim Rogue has to overcome if he’s to land the race on Saturday.
