Fresh from his huge Aintree success with I Am Maximus, check out the Willie Mullins Scottish Grand National runners and all you need to know about the race.
Has Willie Mullins Ever Won The Scottish Grand National?
YES, Willie Mullins has won the Scottish Grand National – and he could be back for more a week after winning with I Am Maximus at Aintree.
Infact, the Closutton maestro has won the last two renewals and is looking for a third straight win in the race.
He first won it with Macdermott in 2024, who beat Surrey Quest by just a nose.
Mullins would then return to Ayr a year later and win the race with Captain Cody, leading home a 1-2 for the yard with Klarc Kent in second.
Harry Cobden delivered Captain Cody with a perfectly timed ride – there’s no surprise that he’s getting plenty of big rides for the Irish yard.

Does Willie Mullins Have Any Scottish Grand National Runners This Year?
Mullins was responsible for six of the 23 Scottish National runners in last year’s race but 2026 sees him enter just one horse. With the British Trainers’ Championship over, the Irish handler has no reason to send multiple horses over for the race.
ROAD TO HOME is the only Mullins Scottish Grand National entry and he’s not certain to run.
He was last seen storming home in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham under Patrick Mullins. That was a career best performance and he looked full of running at the line and just bumped into a well-handicapped rival.
This step up to four miles at Ayr could be worth exploring and he would have solid claims if taking his chance in the race.
But do the Scottish Grand National trends agree?
Whilst the winner of this race receives around £400k less than the Aintree Grand National prize money, plenty of trainers still target the race throughout the whole season.
