Ascot Horse Racing Tips on Sunday: Andy Newton’s 1-2-3 Best Bets

See Andy Newton’s Ascot horse racing tips on Sunday as the royal venue stages their final jumps fixture of the season – before the attention turns to the flat and, of course, their big Royal Ascot meeting in June.

Sunday’s card will see SEVEN races that get going at 1:55pm till 5:25pm and will be shown on Sky Sports Racing – and include a Veterans’ Handicap Chase at 4:50pm with some familiar faces on show.

Ascot Horse Racing Tips:

  • 1:55 – WEST HILL VERDE
  • 2:30 – NOAHSGREATRAINBOW
  • 3:05 – MUNSIF
  • 3:40 – AUTHOCELTIC
  • 4:15 – GLANCE OF GLORY
  • 4:50 – GABBYS CROSS
  • 5:25 – BETHPAGE

1-2-3 Ascot Horse Racing Tips On Sunday: Final Jumps Card Of The Season at The Royal Track

1:55 – Ascot Racecourse Supports Horse Rangers Hampton Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 2m3½f SKY

Barring Bathara, who was pulled up the last day – the other four all come here with consistent profiles.

Gnomon was only just touched off the last day at Taunton by a neck and can go well, but on these terms is rated 7lbs lower (same weight) to WEST HILL VERDE.

This Seamus Mullins runner was an excellent third last time to Montemares in the Grade Two Premier Novices’ Hurdle at Kelso and a repeat of that run will back him hard to beat.

Mahon Falls, getting 7lbs off the others can do best of the rest.

🥇WEST HILL VERDE
🥈GNOMON
🥉MAHON FALLS

2:30 – David Keen Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl4 (5yo+ 0-120) 2m5f SKY

Sherborne was a nice winner last time at Exeter (14 lengths), but up 7lbs for that makes life harder.

Diplomatic Ash is back to a more suitable trip after trying 2m and 3m recently.

But the Harry Derham yard do well here at Ascot and their NOAHSGREATRAINBOW gets the call.

The yard boasts a 29% SR with their chasers at Ascot and also head here in good overall form, with many winners in the last 14 days.

Jockey Brendan Powell, who gets the leg-up on the pick, also boasts a 23% SR riding over fences at this venue.

🥇NOAHSGREATRAINBOW
🥈SHERBOURNE
🥉DIPLOMATIC ASH

3:05 – Sodexo Live! Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo) 1m7½f SKY

The Moore team have three in here – Galactique, Cayman Dancer and The Bellhop – cases can be made for all three.

Plus, the already mentioned in-form Harry Derham yard have Gallivanted, while King Al, Talakan and Senator, who beat Macshadow Des Crai last time but is 4lbs worse off now, are others to respect in a very open race.

But the booking of Sean Bowen on the Charles Byrnes runner MUNSIF stands out.

This 4yold is the top-rated in the field here (126) so will have 12st to carry, but comes here off the back of a good third at Navan just 8 days ago

While earlier this season has run well behind the useful pair of Highland Crystal and Proactif.

🥇MUNSIF
🥈SENATOR
🥉TALAKAN

3:40 – Ascot Racecourse Supports Priors Court School Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl3 (5yo+ 0-140) 2m1f SKY

Pure Carbon is yet another runner for the in-form Harry Derham team and will have his backers after two wins from his last four.

Cobber’s Boy is 0-4 over fences and needs to show more for me.

Recent Wincanton winner Haas Boy, who bolted up by 10 lengths last time, will be popular too.

Yes, he’s up 8lbs for that win but over Christmas had run last week’s good Kelso winner Queenie St Clair close off just 3lbs lower.

But AUTHOCELTIC was only 1/2 length behind Haas Boy at Newton Abbot in October but is 7lbs better off this time.

He’s won since and despite being a beaten jolly last time has been freshened up with 3 1/2 months off and could be ready to rumble again.

🥇AUTHOCELTIC
🥈HAAS BOY
🥉PURE CARBON

4:15 – Barrie Wells Box4Kids Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 2m7½f SKY

Kilworth won for Sean Bowen earlier this season and represents the in-form Emma Lavelle yard.

But it’s interesting that Bowen rides GLANCE OF GLORY here for trainer Martin Keighley, who won this a few years back.

This 6yold slipped up last time when clipping heels and before that had won twice this season at Worcester on good ground.

He should get those favoured conditions again and the first-time cheekpieces are also on here.

Of the rest, Hard Dealt was a good second at Haydock, but is 3lbs higher.

While the Paul Nicholls runner Joyau Allen is probably better than what we’ve seen so far – Harry Cobden rides.

🥇GLANCE OF GLORY
🥈KILWORTH
🥉HARD DEALT

4:50 – Sodexo Live! Veterans’ Handicap Chase (Leg 4 Of The Stayers’ Veterans’ Chase Series) Cl2 (10yo+ 0-150) 3m SKY

Some old faces here despite only four runners.

Copperhead is the only recent winner in the line-up after the 12 year-old beat Gabby’s Cross last time by a neck at Newbury.

Despite this the winner is actually 4lbs better off here, so everything points to Copperhead ahead – plus Gabby’s had Freddie Keighley taking off 5lbs last time.

However, that win came over 3m2f and he just outstayed GABBY’S CROSS – meaning the drop back to 3m here should favour the Nicky Scholfield runner.

Sean Bowen takes over in the saddle too, the yard are in good order and he won’t mind the better ground.

🥇GABBYS CROSS
🥈COPPERHEAD
🥉CERTAINLY RED

5:25 – Colts And Fillies Club Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (4yo+ 0-140) 2m5½f SKY

This could be another for Sean Bowen, as he gets the leg-up on the Emma Lavelle runner – BETHPAGE.

As mentioned, the yard are in good form at the moment and this 8yold mare will be more at home eased a tad in grade after finding a Listed Mares’ Hurdle too hot at Doncaster last time.

Has had 3 1/2 months off since to freshen up and has shown a liking for better ground in the past.

With ALL five of her career wins coming on a ‘good’ surface.

Another Harry Derham runner Dramatic Encore and recent Ludlow winner for the Moore team Royal Way can do best of the rest, with the last-named also a proven course winner here.

🥇BETHPAGE
🥈DRAMATIC ENCORE
🥉ROYAL WAY
