Horse Racing NAP Of The Day Tip 🥇

4:00 Southwell: HILLBERRY HILL (NAP)

This 5yold is having his debut for the Bailey/Nicholls yard after coming over from the Margaret Mullins team.

Won a Thurles maiden last time out in January and has only had two career runs, so should have a lot more to come.

Has to carry a penalty here, but connections look to have found a poor affair for him to get going in the UK.

The form of his Thurles win looks okay too, with the third Forty Coats running 7th in the BetMGM Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

While the fourth Campbell Black has won since too.

Yes, the old boy The Flier Begley is noted at this level, he’s still 0-8 over hurdles with all wins coming over fences.

“Hillberry Hill was the winner of a maiden hurdle in Ireland. He has a rating of 114 over there but hasn’t been given one here so runs with a penalty in this novice hurdle. He goes nicely at home and we’re hoping he can make a winning start today.” Kim Bailey and Matt Nicholls told us a FromTheStables (Join for £1 with promo code ‘POUNDTRIAL’

Other Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips Today🏇

2:15 Taunton: FALLS OF ACHARN (NB)

Won on debut for the Nicholls yard on New Year’s Day at Musselburgh.

Wasn’t beaten far next time in a Listed Hurdle, despite taking a bit of a hold that day.

And was high-tried in the Adonis last time at Kempton.

This will be easier and having won of the flat on good ground, then conditions will be find today.

Paul Nicholls also boasts a 32% SR with his hurdlers here at Taunton to add further confidence.

2:30 Southwell: SHADOWFAX OF ROHAN

Won well at Catterick two runs back and ran into an improving sort in Marty McFly last time.

Still did well to be only 5 1/2 lengths off that winner, pulling well clear of the rest and that horse has franked the form to win again since.

Track, trip and ground will be fine and if reproducing those last two runs, then looks the one to beat here.

8:00 Wolverhampton: TIME FOR TAKE OFF

Just the three runners here and all have claims.

Merlier might have the fitness edge having won just 13 days ago, but also has to give 3lbs away to the pick, who impressed last season at Nottingham in October.

Hasn’t been seen for 173 days so connections are clearly taking their time with her but that form looks decent, with the second Atticum winning since.

Sure to come on for the run, but Time For Take Off is the call to ‘fly home’ here, with the owner Jaber Abdullah also winning this prize 12 months ago.

Bonus Each-Way Betting Tips🏇

3:30 Southwell: BIG BERT

Peckforton Hills will be popular here but looks little value so a chance is taken on the James Owen runner Big Bert.

This 6yold hung left the last day at Hereford so the switch to Southwell today (left-handed) will help on that score.

Is into a handicap hurdle for the first time too and is also up in trip to 3m 1/2f, which could eke out more improvement.

The Owen yard are going okay at the moment too (4-13, 31%) and also boast a 26% SR with their hurdlers here at this track.

4:23 Wolverhampton: LADY OF CLOVER

Worlington could easily take this, and regardless looks one to note going forward with a solid pedigree.

But the George Scott runner Lady Of Clover also seems to be going the right way after three fair runs.

Into a handicap for the first time today will help and a mark of 50 looks more than fair based on what we’ve seen to date.

The step up to the extended mile (from 7f) also looks a plus to me and the Scott yard also have a solid 25% overall SR with their recent runners (27-110) at Wolves.

She could be over-priced in the top 3 or 4 placed markets, but also looks another to keep a lot out for in and around this level in the coming months.

4:30 Southwell: SUTHERLAND

Caught the eye last time with an improved third at Newbury – beaten just 3 3/4 lengths on his handicap debut.

Down a pound for that run here and Finn Lambert can also take off a handy 3lbs this time.

While the first-time cheekpieces are also sported this time to try and keep him focused on his jumping.

Also looked a tad one-paced the last day over shorter, but finished off well so the step up in trip here also looks a good move.

The icing on the cake is the Ellis yard having a decent 60% (3-5) return with their hurdlers here at Southwell recently.

6:30 Wolverhampton: BENEFICIARY

Tricky horse to win with – but often never too far away, with three seconds in his last four.

Down another pound to a mark of 50 today helps and this allows him to get into a 0-50 race.

Last win came off 59 (Jan 25) so certainly well-treated off 50 today.

While the Liam Bailey camp are in flying form at the moment, with 5 wins in their last 12 (42%)

Worth Knowing Today 🤔

🏇Trainer Paul Nicholls has a 32% SR with his hurdlers at Taunton
🏇Owner Jaber Abdullah won today’s 8pm at Wolverhampton (Queen All Star) and tries again with Time For Take Off
🏇5:15 Taunton: Trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Harry Cobden have won 2 of the last 3 runnings – Artaban
🏇Trainer Liam Bailey heads into today 5-12 (42%) with recent runners – 6:30 Wolverhampton: Beneficiary & 7:00 Wolverhampton: Stroxx

Today’s Longest Travellers 🗺️

🏇5:30 Wolverhampton: HENERY HAWK (275 miles), Linda Perratt
🏇6:30 Wolverhampton: SHATIN VENTURE (275 miles), Linda Perratt
🏇7pm Wolverhampton: BERNIE THE BEAR (275 miles), Linda Perratt

Andy Newton’s LAY OF THE DAY ⛔🏇❌

🏇7:30 Wolverhampton: AMERICAN BAY

Third here the last day and with Billy Loughnane riding this 5yold will be a popular pick.

However, he’s still 0-5 on the AW and has only won two of his 20 starts in total.

His only handicap win also came off  a mark 4lbs lower than today’s 77 rating.

So, even though he can be expected to have improved for that last run (after 6 months off), he’s still got a bit to find for me.

While the Paul Midgley yard are also just 1-35 with their recent runners here at Wolves.

Note: Some picks can drift during the day (obviously we have no control of that) – but I’d say if they hit 8.0+ they are prob best left (for obvious reasons).

What Does NAP Mean In Horse Racing?

The term NAP bet or NAP of the Day in horse racing is often used by tipsters – but what does it actually stand for?

In short, it is the BEST bet of the day and the one that is thought to have the best chance of winning by that tipster.

The term ‘NAP’ is short for the word Napoleon, which comes from a French card game of the same name.

You’ve probably heard of the phrase ‘having a NAP hand’ and this is where the term comes from. Having a good, or the best hand in this card game.

What Does NB Mean In Horse Racing?

It’s similar to a NAP — but in horse racing, NB stands for ‘Next Best’.

In simple terms, it’s the tipster’s second-strongest selection of the day. Not quite their headline pick, but the one just behind it in confidence.

How Does A Lucky 15 Horse Racing Bet Work?

A Lucky 15 is one of the most popular bets in horse racing — and for good reason.

It involves FOUR selections combined into a multiple bet. The name ‘Lucky 15’ comes from the fact that your four picks create 15 separate bets, broken down like this:

      • 6 Doubles
      • 4 Trebles
      • 4 Singles
      • 1 Four-Fold

That’s where the 15 comes from.

A Lucky 15 is also similar to a Super Yankee, although that bet is bigger. A Super Yankee consists of 26 bets in total — 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and 1 five-fold.

If you fancy today’s selections, you can use our Lucky 15 horse racing tips above to build this type of wager.

How Much Does A Lucky 15 Bet Cost?

Because there are 15 separate bets involved, your total stake is multiplied by 15.

So, for example, a £1 Lucky 15 will cost £15 in total.

If you place it each-way (covering both win and place), the cost doubles. A £1 each-way Lucky 15 would therefore come to £30.

How To Place A Horse Racing Bet?

To place a bet, head to any of the horse racing betting sites, where you’ll see all the day’s fixtures and racecards.

Go to the ‘horse racing’ section and find the meeting and race time your horse is running in. Each runner will be listed with their current odds displayed alongside.

Once you’ve opened an account and deposited funds, you’re ready to go.

Click on the horse you want to back and it will be added to your bet slip. From there, enter your chosen stake and confirm the bet.

      That’s it — you’re in.
