Kateson set for River Don Hurdle at Doncaster

Trainer Tom Lacey is thinking about moving Kateson up into the Albert Bartlett River Don Novices’ Hurdle at Doncaster, according to a report on Sky Sports.

The three-mile Grade Two race at the end of this month could see Kateson involved, after the six-year-old’s unbeaten run over hurdles was ended at Newbury last month.

Although he lost the race, Lacey was impressed with the way that Kateson competed and he is now hoping to get him ready for the River Don race on 26th January.

When speaking about Kateson, Lacey said:

I thought that was a fantastic run from Kateson in the Challow – I was very pleased with him.

We might look at going for the River Don at Doncaster. That looks like the obvious target, although it would have to be soft ground for him to run.

He is in great nick and has come out of the race at Newbury really well.
