Winx set a new record for Australian racing on Saturday after coming out victorious in her 26th consecutive race at Royal Randwick in Sydney, Sky Sports report.
The seven-year-old mare won the race named in her honour, the Winx Stakes, to overtake the previous record set by the legendary Black Caviar.
Black Caviar was the previous record holder after claiming 25 consecutive wins, with the legendary horse retiring unbeaten five years ago.
Ridden as usual by Hugh Bowman, Winx was briefly outpaced in the seven-furlong contest, however, the seven-year-old soon found top gear and comfortably sprinted home to the delight of the large crowd in attendance.
The win means that Winx has now won 30 of her 36 races, with the unforgettable winning streak beginning back in May 2015.
Bowman has now been on board for all but two of Winx’s 26 successive wins and ensured Black Caviar’s record would be broken after guiding Winx to a famous late burst.
