Mark Johnston confident of Dee Ex Bee victory in Irish Derby

Mark Johnston has revealed that he is feeling confident that Dee Ex Bee can secure victory at the eagerly anticipated Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, according to a report on the Yorkshire Post.

The trainer was hugely pleased with the horse after he finished in second place at the Flat Racing showpiece.

Johnston believes that there is still plenty to come from Dee EX Bee, starting at the Irish Derby.

The horse has been supplemented for €100,000 for this weekend’s race and Johnston thinks that the flat ground is a huge advantage for his horse.

When speaking about Saturday’s race, he said:

We had a bumper run in May and it’s carried forward into June. The horses are flying high, so let’s hope it continues until Saturday and beyond.

He’s absolutely fine since Epsom, no issues at all. It’s always a nervous time when you are making a significant supplementary entry.

Johnston is on a quest to break the all-time senior wins record of 4,193 held by Richard Hannon and he is hoping to surpass that this summer.

The trainer believes that he will see the best of Dee Ex Bee because he is physically suited to the flat track, but we will have to wait and see if he is correct.
