Trainer Karl Burke has revealed that he believes Laurens has a huge chance of coasting to victory in the 1000 Guineas, according to a report on the Northern Echo.

Laurens is an underdog for Sunday’s Classic but Burke thinks that his horse should not be overlooked as the preparations have gone really well.

Burke can’t understand why Laurens isn’t being considered as a serious contender for the race even though she won the Group Two May Hill Stakes in Doncaster and the Group One Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket in September.

Burke said:

I think she’s got a big chance. Her two-year-old form was very good and if anything I think she has improved on that. She’s a well-balanced filly for one who is so big and who has such a massive stride. I think she’s just gone under the radar a little bit.

It would be fantastic to have a British Classic on the CV. The best day I had in racing was when we sent Libertarian to the Investec Derby and he finished second. The whole event was fantastic. If we could go one better on Sunday in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas, it’s going to be an amazing day.

Burke has never won a Classic but this could be one of the best chances he has ever had to achieve success.
