Penhill to run in Stayers’ Hurdle

Cheltenham star Penhill will run in the Ladbrokes Stayers’ Hurdle at Punchestown on Thursday.

Winning the Sun Bets Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month, the Willie Mullins’ horse will surely be much fancied for the big race in Kildare.

Victorious in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last year as well, the seven-year-old will seek to add an elusive Punchestown title to an already-impressive litany of race wins and good results.

The horse won’t be without stiff competition, however.

Mullins also has Faugheen in the list of runners, as he looks to avenge a poor result in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Supasundae leads the charge for John Harrington, who has a pair of second place finishes to show from excellent runs at both Aintree and Cheltenham.

Grand National-winning trainer Gordon Elliott sends Apple’s Jade into the race with dreams of solidifying what has been a career-defining year already.
