Laurens is looking good for the 1000 Guineas, this in the words of trainer Karl Burke.
The Fillies’ Mile winner is long understood to be heading straight to the contest without a preparation run, and as such a racecourse gallop in Newcastle on Wednesday morning was taken.

The three-year-old has won three of her first four races, with the exception being a second placed finish in France last summer.
Burke said:
We were very happy. PJ (McDonald) rode her, she worked over seven furlongs and worked very nicely,
It wasn’t anything overly serious, but it was a nice day out for her and a change of scenery.

The Middleham trainer was very happy with progress made over the winter period:
She’s looked fantastic all winter to be fair, most of ours have, and I couldn’t be happier with the way she looks. She’s had a good coat on her, I’m not sure she was even clipped this winter.
We won’t mind a little bit of cut in the ground and there is some rain forecast again next week – good ground would be perfect. She certainly wouldn’t want it firm, but it’s unlikely to be that.
Laurens is a 16/1 (Bet365) shot for the 1000 Guineas on May 6.
