Australian mare Winx set a world record of 17 wins at flat racing’s Group One level with victory in the George Ryder Stakes in Sydney, Sky Sports report.
Victory in Sydney saw Winx go past the previous record of 16 wins set by American horse John Henry in 1984.
The Chris Waller-trained six-year-old, who was ridden by Hugh Bowman, is now unbeaten in 24 races over the past three years after defeating nearest rival Happy Clapper by three-quarters-of-a-length in the big race of the day.

With Royal Ascot set for the middle of June, officials at the event are desperate to see Winx head to Britain for the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal meeting.
However, when asked about the possibility of Winx appearing at Ascot, trainer Waller said:
To be fair to the owners, we haven’t even discussed it. We know when it (Royal Ascot) is, and where the races are in Europe.
