Fox Norton to miss remainder of season

The Colin Tizzard-trained horse Fox Norton is set to miss the remainder of the season, due to what is being described as a “suspensory issue”.

The news came on the same day Tizzard found out the talented Willoughby Court is at risk of missing the Cheltenham Festival with a foot injury.

Pipped to the post at Cheltenham last year in the Queen Mother Champion Chase by Special Tiara, many had been hoping the stallion would get another shot at the Grade One race.

However, the injury has put paid to all hopes for the horse this season.

Fox Norton had also had a good run in the Tingle Creek, where Politilogue sneaked in ahead as the ultimate winner.

The horse had been fancied as second-favourite for the Ryanair, behind Un De Sceaux.

Tizzard’s son Joe had this to say of Fox Norton’s fate:

Unfortunately, Fox Norton will miss the Cheltenham Festival and the rest of the season due to a slight suspensory injury.

The trainer will now surely be extra-hopeful Willoughby Court can recover in time for the Festival.
