Trainer Kirby excited ahead of Lady Buttons’ trip to Dublin

Trainer Phil Kirby has expressed his excitement ahead of Lady Buttons’ appearance in Dublin this weekend.

The eight-year-old is set to go in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Paddy Mullins Mares Handicap Hurdle, with £75,000 of prize money available.

With good form in Ireland already this season, Kirby is seeing plenty of reason to bang the drum ahead of this week’s meeting.

I’m looking forward to it, I think she’s fairly handicapped and must be going there with a decent chance There wasn’t a lot wrong with her last run behind Let’s Dance, she’s been dropped 2lb for it and it’s a massive drop in class.

The mare finished fourth in the Willis Towers Watson Irish EBF Mares Hurdle in December, and Kirby clearly feels it’s a run that sets the horse up well for further success at Leopardstown.

Her last win came in November, at the Yorton Stallions Mares’ Novices’ Chase, in Bangor-on-Dee, ridden by Adam Nicol.
