Gosden hoping Enable and Coronet can shine in Oaks
John Gosden is hopeful that his two runners in today’s Group One Investec Oaks over a mile and a half at Epsom Downs can put in solid displays.
Gosden is represented by second-favourite Enable, who is a general 9/2 chance and 9/1 shot Coronet.
The former was a ready winner of the Chester Oaks under Frankie Dettori on the Roodee last time in which she produced a fine front-running performance to spread-eagle the field to score decisively. Given she has acted round Chester, it is likely she will handle the undulations offered by Epsom and Gosden is hopeful of a big run from the three-year-old filly who will be ridden by Dettori.
The Newmarket handler also runs Coronet, who will be ridden by Andrea Atzeni and finished a fine third on her first start of the season at Deauville last time in the Prix Saint-Alary behind another of Friday’s rivals Sobetsu.
Regarding the duo, Gosden said:
Enable breezed on Monday morning and Coronet did so the day before. We are happy with both of them. Enable handled Chester very well and Coronet has done nothing wrong in her life.
She came from a long back in the Prix Saint-Alary to snatch third and has come on a lot for that race. She’s been looking to run over a mile and a half. She’s very much that type of filly and the trip will suit her very well.
