Colin’s Sister heads for Fairyhouse

She has looked a very smart mare over hurdles so far this season and the Fergal O’Brien-trained Colin’s Sister is pencilled in for Fairyhouse’s Easter Festival in April.

Forced to miss the Cheltenham Festival after suffering a bruised foot, the mare was set ro un in the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle but will seek compensation for missing the Cheltenham Festival by heading over the Irish sea next month.

Unbeaten under hurdles in four starts this season, the six-year-old daughter of Central Park scored by nine lengths in a decent Grade Two event at Sandown last time, travelling with real authority throughout the contest before coming along in taking fashion under Paddy Brennan.

Trained by the in-form O’Brien who saddled Chase The Spud to victory in the Betfred Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter, Colin’s Sister has improved dramatically for the switch to hurdles after running with credit in defeat in five runs in bumpers, which included three decent performances in Listed events last season.

O’Brien will now target his mare for a contest over two miles and four furlongs at Fairyhouse. The Naunton handler said:

She’s a lot better. She was ridden on Monday. She’ll canter for a couple of days and she’s fine. We hope to go to Fairyhouse with her in the middle of April for a Grade One mares’ novices’ hurdle. Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins will no doubt have a stack in here, but that’s the plan at the minute.
