It’s what you have all been waiting for, the ante-post focus is back! We had a nice winner from it at Cheltenham courtesy of Defi Du Seuil and here is a Grand National focus.
Definitly Red 14/1. Brian Ellison’s charge looked every inch the Grand National type when winning the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster last time by 14 lengths. That was a decisive success for the gelding who came clear with ease in the home straight under Danny Cook, routeing what looked a decent field which included some other Grand National hopefuls.
The son of Definite Article was raised 10lb for that event but gets into the extended four and a quarter mile contest Aintree off 149. That looks a very decent mark and with Cook delighted with how the eight-year-old schooled over National-style fences earlier this week. A winner of a Grade Three at Wetherby and also winning at Carlisle this season, he looks a horse who will be well suited by the National’s unique test and should run really well in the event.
Ellison has done an excellent job with the gelding and the way he jumps and travels makes him a horse who should run a big race if avoiding trouble in running, in what is always an ultra-competitive race.
