Arabian Blue won the Leicester Novice Stakes at 25/1 when Daniel Muscutt’s mount defeated the 7/4 favourite by half a length on Tuesday. According to the official result, the James Horton-trained runner triumphed in the British EBF Confined Expotile Novice Stakes, a race restricted to horses with no more than three previous runs, over seven furlongs on good-to-soft ground.
The Leicester Novice Stakes result marked a significant upset in a division where Iwasjustsaying had been supported as the clear market choice. Charlie Johnston’s 7/4 favourite, ridden by Jack Mitchell, was expected to be the form guide for early juveniles, but Arabian Blue’s patient approach from off the pace suggested tighter competition than opening odds allowed. The half-length winning margin confirmed that the confined novice division offers genuine uncertainty at Leicester despite the market’s early convictions.

Magic Harry provided another success in the Leicester Novice Stakes split, winning the second division at 13/8 for trainer Tom Clover under David Egan. Arctic Tsar claimed the nursery handicap at 11/2 for Clive Cox and Rossa Ryan, while Sergeant Mayer won the five-furlong handicap at 16/1 under Alex Jary for trainer Nigel Tinkler. Harry’s Halo was odds-on at 5/2 in the six-furlong handicap for trainers Kevin & Lauren Frost and jockey Jack Mitchell.
The fillies’ handicap, which we flagged as a tight affair in our morning preview of the card, was won by Spirit Of Athene at 7/4 for trainer Ed Walker under jockey Ashley Lewis.
