According to the official result at Windsor on Monday, Maho Bay claimed the Winter Hill Stakes result under William Buick. The Charlie Appleby-trained gelding’s decisive display in the Group 3 race marked a commanding performance across the 1m2f trip.
Maho Bay returned at the odds of 5/2 and prevailed by 2.5 lengths from Venetian Prince, the 66/1 shot trained by Andrew Balding. The winning time of 2m 6.31s on good ground demonstrated the quality of the contest, with Maho Bay‘s performance rating of 107 matched by the runner-up despite the decisive winning margin.

The Winter Hill Stakes result caps a strong afternoon at Windsor for top-class three-year-old form. Without Prejudice, the 1/4 favourite trained by John & Thady Gosden, justified odds in the G J Colairo Diamond Fillies’ Novice, with William Buick again in the saddle for a 1m2f victory over Aura Champagne by 3.25 lengths. Polyxena, at 8/1 from Stuart Williams’ yard and ridden by Marco Ghiani, claimed the Hamish Johnson Memorial Fillies’ Restricted Novice over Romotoso, the William Knight runner sent off as 6/4 favourite.
Earlier on the card, Wopbopaloomop struck at 8/1 in the Nursery Handicap under Saffie Osborne for Richard Spencer, while Luzon Heights won the Follow Matchbook Handicap at 3/1, with Marco Ghiani again partnering the William Knight-trained winner.
