Light Of Dawn secured the Prestige Fillies Result at Goodwood on Sunday at 4/1, with James Doyle in the saddle for trainer K. R. Burke. The filly stayed on under pressure to prevail by 1.25 lengths in the Group 3 contest, run over 7 furlongs on soft ground.
Settled towards the rear in the early stages, Light Of Dawn moved smoothly into contention as the leaders turned for home. Driven hard inside the final furlong, she found enough to edge out Eabha, who ran boldly at 18/1 to claim second place. Coaxed finished third, beaten a further 0.5 lengths. The winning time of 1m 29.45s reflected the testing nature of the going.
Light Of Dawn Claims Prestige Fillies Result
The Prestige Fillies Result confirmed the competitive nature of this year’s three-year-old filly division, with Burke’s charge proving too strong in the closing stages. Siena Storm (100/30, fourth) and Aperoll (9/2, fifth) battled hard but were unable to mount a serious challenge, while the winner ran to her official rating of 99.
Our preview of the Prestige Fillies suggested a competitive field, a view borne out by the closeness of the placed horses. This victory adds a valuable Group 3 success to Light Of Dawn’s record and represents another strong performance from Doyle at the Sussex track.
