According to the official result at Curragh on Saturday, Sea Of Rain landed the Newtownanner Stud Irish EBF Stakes, the Group 3 feature in Curragh Saturday results. Colin Keane steered the 18/1 outsider to victory for trainer J S Bolger, prevailing by three-quarters of a length from Ballyskeagh in a tightly contested finish over a mile on Good going.
The winning performance earned £42,000 and represents the standout result from Curragh Saturday results at the Flat racing fixture. Damsel In Distress, tipped in our morning preview of this card, travelled prominently but weakened in the final stages to finish third, a neck behind the runner-up. The Group 3 contest shaped as a war of attrition, with neither the second-placed horse nor our selection able to match the late acceleration of Bolger’s charge.
Sea Of Rain Ousts Favourites at Curragh
Ballyskeagh, returned at 14/1 and trained by Joseph Patrick O’Brien, pressed hard throughout but lacked the finishing kick to contain Sea Of Rain down the straight. Exceptionally, at 12/1 for A P O’Brien’s yard, finished a length and a quarter adrift in fourth, with Speckles completing the first five a further three-quarters of a length back.
Curragh Saturday results across the remainder of the card saw Exchange Student claim the Nursery Handicap at 9/1, whilst Group 3 winners were secured by Push The Boat Out (17/2) in the Round Tower Stakes and Miss Scott (3/1J) in the Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes.
