# 20:00 Ayr Gold Cup Handicap Result: Supreme Clarets Wins at 5/1

**AYR, 20:00** – Supreme Clarets got Richard Fahey on the board at Ayr’s Ladies Day evening card, taking the Book The Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup Handicap at 5/1 under Warren Fentiman.

| Pos | Horse | Jockey | SP |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Supreme Clarets | Warren Fentiman | 5/1 |
| 2 | Runninsonofagun | Jack Garritty | 4/1 |
| 3 | Black Storm | Greg Fairley | 13/2 |
| 4 | Milford Grange | Billy Garritty | 9/1 |

## The Race Story

Over a stiff seven furlongs on ground officially good, good to soft in places, Fentiman produced Supreme Clarets to lead inside the final furlong and put the race to bed by a length and three-quarters. Runninsonofagun, sent off at 4/1 having headed the morning market, chased the winner home without ever quite landing a blow, with Black Storm (13/2) a length and a quarter back in third.

Milford Grange ran on for fourth at 9/1, a neck in front of Sanafi Zabeel (15/2), but the story was the winner: Fahey’s four-year-old travelled strongly throughout and found plenty when Fentiman asked, a well-timed strike in a race that had looked wide open on paper.

## Tipster Accountability

Another one gets away. [Our morning Ayr preview](https://readhorseracing.com/ayr-races-today-tips/) put up Yaaser each-way at 7/1, and the market agreed to a point – he was sent off 5/1 – but the run never came, Yaaser trailing home eighth with both halves of the bet lost. That makes the preview verdicts 0/6 at Ayr tonight, with the 60/1 accumulator long dead. None of the tracked names in [today’s tipster review](https://readhorseracing.com/tipster-review-templegate-kealy-oddschecker-day-one/) had a bet in this race, so Templegate’s bank stays where it was.

## Looking Ahead

The meeting signed off with the 20:30 classified stakes, where Charencey was a non-runner and the preview verdict Wicklow Way drifted from 2/1 in the morning to 7/2 at the off – see [the full result of the Ayr finale here](https://readhorseracing.com/ayr-830-result-patrick-street/).
