# Ayr Result: Roman Crystal Makes All in the Ladies Day Opener

**Roman Crystal** won the 5:27 A McKie Builders EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes, the opener on Ayr’s Ladies Day evening card, at **7/2**, making all under Billy Garritty for Michael and David Easterby and beating the favourite Beechwood Glory by a length and three-quarters.

| Pos | Horse | Jockey | SP |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1st | Roman Crystal | Billy Garritty | 7/2 |
| 2nd | Beechwood Glory | Mikey Sheehy | 13/8F |
| 3rd | Unbeatable Fame | Jonathan Garritty | 28/1 |

Nine juveniles ran over the six furlongs on good ground, good to soft in places, after Lone Striker was withdrawn. The winning time was 1m 12.13s.

## The Race Story

Garritty made it simple: Roman Crystal, who wore a hood to post, broke smartly, was soon in front and was going best of all two furlongs out. She drifted right when ridden inside the final quarter-mile but kept on strongly to hold Beechwood Glory, who chased her all the way without ever getting on terms. It was a family affair in the frame, Jonathan Garritty taking third on 28/1 chance Unbeatable Fame for Richard Fahey.

## Tipster Accountability

First blood to the bookmakers at Ayr: our [Ayr preview](https://readhorseracing.com/2026/08/08/ayr-races-today-tips/) had Beechwood Glory as the opening leg of the four-timer, and her defeat kills the 60/1 acca at the first attempt. The saner Tiger–Wicklow Way double flagged in the same piece is still alive. None of the tracked tipsters in [today’s tipster review](https://readhorseracing.com/2026/08/08/tipster-review-templegate-kealy-oddschecker-day-one/) had a position in the opener.

## Looking Ahead

The 6:00 Sunday Roast Handicap over five furlongs is next, a Class 6 dash blown wide open by the withdrawal of in-form King Of The Jungle — Harry Mole heads the market at 9/4. The night’s big bets come later: banker Tiger, odds-on for the 6:30, and Wicklow Way in the 8:30 finale.
