Newbury Horse Racing Tips
13:55 NEWBURY – BetVictor Steventon Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f ITV4
AL ZANATI is the call here to carry on the fine record Godolphin have in this race – with the ‘boys in blue’ landing 5 of the last 16 renewals.
They also have Arabian Light entered, but their main rider William Buick has picked Al Zanati.
Last seen running 6th in the Dante Stakes at York in May (see below), but that form has been franked since with the 3rd Christmas Day winning the Epsom Derby.
While before that last run this Dubawi colt was second to Raaheeb at Sandown and that horse has gone onto run a fair 4th in the Irish Derby.
A 65-day break has freshened him up and as we saw last week at Newmarket the Charlie Appleby horses are in good order again.
Persica and the other Godolphin runner Arabian Light are next best.
🥇AL ZANATI
🥈Persica
🥉Arabian Light
14:25 NEWBURY – Pertemps Handicap (Gbbplus Race) Cl2 (3yo+) 2m½f ITV4
ALMUHIT landed this race 12 months ago and I think this Faye Bramley runner has a decent chance of going close again.
He’s back rated 2lbs lower than last year and heads here off a fair 2nd here to Baileys Khelstar, who he takes on again.
But is 2lbs better off with that Charlie Johnston runner this time and the Bramley yard head here in good order.
They’ve been amongst the winners in recent weeks and also boast a solid 43% SR (3-7) with their 4+ year-olds at the Berkshire venue.
Of the rest, the already mentioned Baileys Khelstar is noted.
While Ride The Thunder was well-backed into favourite for the Northumberland Plate last time (6th) and should be better now back on the grass.
🥇ALMUHIT
🥈Baileys Khelstar
🥉Ride The Thunder
15:02 NEWBURY – Hallgarten And Novum Wines Hackwood Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 6f ITV4
NOBLE CHAMPION is chanced here in the sprint wheel of madness (as we call it on the Final Furlong Podcast), with this division often throwing up funny results in the last few seasons.
Yes, this Ed Walker runner needs to bounce back from two poor runs this season, but you can pick holes in both.
The last was on the AW at Newcastle – which was his first run there. While before that, the soft ground was probably against him in France (Longchamp).
Then prior to that he lost his action at Goodwood in the Lennox Stakes – so another possible excuse.
So if you are able to take a leap of faith and put a line through those three last runs – for the reasons above – before that he was a good winner of the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2025 (see below).
Don’t forget he bolted up by 3 1/4 lengths that day and had some fair names well back – like Seagulls Eleven, Marvelman and last week’s July Cup winner Commanche Brave (3rd).
At 20/1 he’s worth a small e/w play if able to recapture that form from last June.
Of the rest, Commonwealth Cup 7th Song Of The Clyde and Wokingham Stakes 3rd Soldier’s Tree are also respected.
🥇NOBLE CHAMPION (e/w)
🥈Soldier’s Tree
🥉Song Of The Clyde

15:37 NEWBURY – Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes (Gbb Race) Cl2 (2yo) 5f ITV4
ROLLTHEDICEBABY and FROM ME TO YOU are chanced here in what is always a tricky race to unravel – with a stack of lightly-raced juveniles.
Both are trained by Richard Hannon, who have done well in the Weatherbys Super Sprint in the past – winning the pot four times since 2014.
Rollethedicebaby was a nice winner at Goodwood last time, albeit on soft ground.
But the third Greek Symphony has won since and jockey Sean Levey has be on the last two Hannon winners in this race.
Then From Me To You is also worth a saver in the first-time cheekpieces and heads here having been gelded too. He’s had 75 days to freshen up since his last 6th at Kempton.
But that form looks fair with the 5th Green Sovereign winning since and also running okay in Listed and Group races since.
Of the rest, the Richard Hughes yard are only 2-49 with their 2yolds at Newbury, so their Bint Archange is overlooked despite a Listed win at Sandown last time.
While other recent winners Sky Secret and Angels Lane are others to respect based on how they both won on debuts.
🥇ROLLTHEDICEBABY
🥈FROM ME TO YOU
🥉Angels Lane
Market Rasen Horse Racing Tips On Saturday 18th July 2026

14:10 MARKET RASEN – Betway Summer Hurdle Handicap Hurdle (Gbb Race) Cl2 (3yo+) 2m½f ITV4
MOJITO DES MOTTES is the call to give jockey Harry Cobden his third in the Summer Hurdle since 2020.
He’s riding this Ben Pauling runner for his new boss JP McManus and connections looked to have had this race in mind after coming here fresh (111 days).
But he was last seen running a neck second to King Al at Ascot – but caught the eye that day closing all the way to the line.
That was only his fifth career run and his first off a wind op, so you feel there will be a lot more to come with just 10st-9lbs to carry here.
Of the rest, the James Owen yard have won 2 of the last 3 and Sean Bowen is an interesting jockey booking for their High Fibre.
While the Dan Skelton runner Louis Veron looks the likely favourite after two nice wins at Warwick and Stratford.
🥇MOJITO DES MOTTES
🥈Louis Veron
🥉High Fibre
14:45 MARKET RASEN – Betway Summer Plate Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (Gbb Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m5½f ITV4
SOUL ICON can also give jockey Harry Cobden a nice spin here in the Market Rasen feature – the Summer Plate.
This Keiran Burke runner was 2nd in this race in 2024 and is back rated only 4lbs higher.
With weirdly Cobden riding the winner that day Sure Touch, but is now on the selection.
Soul Icon has not been seen since being brought down in the Topham Chase at Aintree in April, so heads here freshened up.
Yes, this trip does often chuck out some question marks with him but was only beaten a neck in this two years ago.
While he’s also only 1-17 over fences, but Cobden is 1-2 on him and rode him to that sole win over fences.
Harry Cobden has also made this race his own in recent years – winning the last three runnings – and is the call to make it four.
Queensbury Boy, for the Bowen yard that have won this race eight times, and Skelton’s Kingston Narcissus can also go well.
🥇SOUL ICON
🥈Queensbury Boy
🥉Kingston Narcissus
Ripon Horse Racing Tips On Saturday 18th July 2026

15:15 RIPON – Ripon Bell-Ringer Handicap (Gbbplus Race) Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 1m4f ITV4
SPIORADALTA gets the nod in the only ITV Racing contest at Ripon on Saturday – the Bell-Ringer Handicap.
Why?
Well, this Mark Walford runner simply loves the Garden Racecourse – winning his last four here.
While he’s also raced here eight times and is yet to finish out of the top four.
The handicapper has eased him a pound after two average runs at York and Windsor, but for whatever reason he’s much better horse at Ripon.
Meaning the return here is a big plus, despite not winning over this far (1m4f) yet. But in his defence has only run twice over this trip.
Paul Mulrennan, who has won twice on the horse before, is also back in the plate.
Of the rest, Salamanca City is noted from the in-form James Fanshawe yard, plus Elsass could easily bounce back after his poor Newmarket showing last time.
🥇SPIORADALTA (e/w)
🥈Salamanca City
🥉Elsass
