Back on a sounder surface will help but I will think the jury is out over this 7f trip – especially at a stiff track like Carlisle. He’s only won the once from 16 starts too and that came in a maiden in Ireland on the AW. Therefore, is still to score in a handicap – so based on that and having been beaten in and around this mark, I’m not sure he’s great value around 5/2. I’ll take something else to rain on Black Storm’s parade. *Note: Some picks can drift during the day (obviously we have no control of that) – but I’d say if they hit 8.0+ they are prob best left (for obvious reasons).* * * * ## **Worth Knowing Today – Horse Racing Stats and Fun Facts** **1:50 Newmarket – Charlie Appleby has won 3 of the last 5**\ **2:25 Newmarket – Charlie Appleby has never won the July Stakes**\ **3:00 Newmarket – Just 1 winning favourite in the last 20**\ **3:00 Newmarket – 9 of the last 11 winners from stalls 8+**\ **4:10 Newmarket – Charlie Appleby has won 4 of the last 7**\ **4:10 Newmarket – 5 of the last 6 winners from stalls 1 or 2**\ **4:45 Newmarket – The last 7 winners between stalls 3-7**\ **5:20 Newmarket – Sterling Knight won the race in 2024**\ **7:50 Epsom – 4 of the last 8 winners from stall 1**\ **6:17 Newbury – 3 of the last 6 winners from stall 11**\ **7:03 Leopardstown – 8 of the last 10 winners between stalls 6-9** * * * ## **Today’s Horse Racing Longest Travellers** **Wid**\ Ralph Beckett\ Carlisle 14:00\ 309 miles **Pequenita**\ Andrew Balding\ Carlisle 14:35\ 305 miles **Celestia**\ Harry Charlton\ Carlisle 14:35\ 290 miles **Bella Angelina**\ Harry Charlton\ Carlisle 14:00\ 290 miles **Dakota Breeze**\ Archie Watson\ Carlisle 16:55\ 286 miles **Mohaymenah**\ Harry Eustace\ Carlisle 14:35\ 273 miles **Instant Bond**\ Michael Wigham\ Carlisle 15:45\ 272 miles **Ecclefechan**\ John Ryan\ Carlisle 16:55\ 272 miles **Creative Queen**\ William Haggas\ Carlisle 16:20\ 272 miles ## **Horses Running Today That WON The Same Race Last Year *(UK & Ireland)*** **6:52 Newbury: THUNDEROUS LOVE\ 7:03 Leopardstown: SLIEVE BINNIAN\** ![](https://media.readhorseracing.com/readhorseracing/2026/06/Midnite-Banner.jpg) * * * ## **FROMTHESTABLES – Get Top Daily Info Direct From The BEST Trainers** You can receive top Trainer Info Direct To Your Inboxes….EVERY MORNING (Daily FREE Quote Below) **Take a Look For Yourself –**[**JOIN FTS FOR JUST £1 HERE**](https://www.fromthestables.com/14daysfree/quotes/50/) **with PROMO CODE** ***‘POUNDTRIAL’*** ### **Today’s FREE QUOTE: Thursday 9th July 2026** **💬** **16:10 Newmarket – Tall Trees (6/1 [Midnite](https://affiliate.midnite.com/C.ashx?btag=a_3358b_322c_&affid=924&siteid=3358&adid=322&c=))** *“The vibes are very strong for the Godolphin newcomer but Tall Trees goes there today with plenty of confidence.
