Breeders’ Cup winner Cy Fair ruled out of Royal Ascot

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner Cy Fair has been ruled out of Royal Ascot after a poor piece of work.

Cy Fair Ruled Out Of Royal Ascot

George Weaver will not be sending over Cy Fair for Royal Ascot now after the filly failed to produce a substantial piece of work.

She won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint last season and was set to come over to Ascot for the King Charles III Stakes.

Rated a general 16/1 shot, she will now not take her place in the race.

Part owners Medallion Racing released a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“We have decided to skip Royal Ascot with Cy Fair. George felt she hadn’t been acting like her usual self over the past few days.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we missed her final breeze for Ascot and didn’t feel comfortable shipping her yesterday until we felt she was 100%. She is completely sound and hopefully will be back working in the next week or two.

The classy three-year-old could have given trainer Weaver another memorable Royal Ascot moment.

Back in 2023, he won the Queen Mary with Crimson Advocate, who was subsequently purchased by Wathnan Racing and joined John and Thady Gosden.
