Leading Trainer Aidan O’Brien Dominates Market
Unsurprisingly, the Irish Derby betting odds are all about horses from the Aidan O’Brien yard.
The Ballydoyle handler has won the illustrious race a record 17 times and has to be long odds-on to win an 18th this season.
His horses are dominating the market as you’d expect, and controversial Epsom Derby non-runner Benvenuto Cellini is the favourite – narrowly.
He did run at Epsom, but was controversially deemed a non-runner by the BHA after getting his hind leg caught in the stalls.
The Frankel colt lost a couple of lengths at the start of the race and seemingly his chance was gone.
He’s around 5/2 to go and win the Irish Derby after the drama at Epsom.
However, lurking in behind him as second favourite is Christmas Day – who won the Epsom Derby by almost three lengths.
Ronan Whelan was prominent on the son of Camelot and he got the job done in fine fashion.
So there’s every chance that he completes the Derby double like stablemate Lambourn did last year.

He ran with great credit and gave the winner something to think about in the home straight.
It’s possible that he could run in the Irish Derby next, but also has the Grand Prix de Paris as an option too.
