## **Andy Newton’s Lay Of The Day Horse Racing Tip: WEDNESDAY 27th May 2026**

### 4:15 Beverley: PENNY GHENT

A winner at Ripon last time out by 5 1/2 lengths so is sure to be popular based on that.

But is also up 5lbs and also up from a 0-55 into a 0-60 today.

Therefore, more is needed in my opinion and is also taking on the winner of this race last season – Hostelry.

If I were a backer, I’d also be a tad worried about the SR of the Simon Whitaker yard here at Beverley – with only 1 winner from their last 32.

*Note: Some picks can drift during the day (obviously we have no control of that) – but I’d say if they hit 8.0+ they are prob best left (for obvious reasons).*

#### **19:08 Cartmel – Lowlands**

*“It was only a maiden that Lowlands won last time and while I hope she’s improving, she’ll need to be as it’s a stronger race and she got 7lb for that. A few of these have been busy over the weekend – Mickey Bowen’s horse has been placed both on Saturday and Monday but he knows what he’s doing. I expect her to run well.” **NICKY RICHARDS***
