## **Andy Newton’s Lay Of The Day Horse Racing Tip: SUNDAY 17th May 2026**

### 6:15 Hamilton: MONTEZUMA

Jim Goldie runner that won two runs ago at Musselburgh, but failed to back that up off a 7lb higher mark next time.

Is up another pound here – so 8lbs higher than his last win and with that also coming over 5f, then has a bit to prove over today’s 6f trip too.

He’s tried this distance four times but is yet to score.

The Goldie yard have only had 4 winners in their last 34 too.

*Note: Some picks can drift during the day (obviously we have no control of that) – but I’d say if they hit 8.0+ they are prob best left (for obvious reasons).*

#### **15:05 Stratford – Whatyouwaitingfor**

*“Whatyouwaitingfor was consistent over hurdles for his previous yard. Only a 5yo, we sent him immediately over fences and while beaten a fair way, he has been in the money each time. If avoiding the jumping errors he made at Doncaster and Chepstow, he should be in contention at the finish.”* Charlie Longsdon
