Many were wondering what the Constitution Hill handicap mark would be reveaeld as after his unbeaten start to life on the flat and it’s now official.
Constitution Hill Handicap Mark Revealed
After two wins from his first two starts on the flat, Constitution Hill has been given an official handicap mark of 101 by the BHA.
The eight-time Grade 1 winner over hurdles made the perfect start to his flat campaign when storming to a nine-and-a-half length win at Southwell in February.
He then followed up with an easy victory at Kempton last week. Both races were over 1m4f and it looks like he could head to the John Porter Stakes (Group 3, 1m4f) at Newbury next.
BHA handicapper Adam Barnes was speaking to the Racing Post on the Constitution Hill handicap mark:
“He’s going to be rated 101, which is a high figure for a horse coming out of novices. Potentially it could turn out to be quite a lenient figure for a horse like him with the ability we know he’s got from the jumps.
“He was such a high-class hurdler and retains plenty of that ability. It will be interesting to see how high he can go in the flat sphere.”
Whether Nicky Henderson’s stable star goes to the John Porter at Newbury or not, there are plenty of races to target going forward.
After winning aboard him at Kempton, Ryan Moore said that he is a very comfortable at 12 furlongs, so what options does Constitution Hill have at that distance?

Constitution Hill Current 12/1 Fav For Ebor
After his win at Kempton last time, Constitution Hill was immediately backed into 12/1 for the Ebor Handicap at York in August.
That race is run over 1m5f and there’s no doubt he’d get the trip. Ethical Diamond of Willie Mullins won it last year off 104 and he went on to win the Breeders’ Cup Turf but was well-beaten in last weekend’s Sheema Classic at Meydan.
